What Lindsey Graham Didn't Say That is Important

"This Single White Male from South Carolina Won't Shut Up"---Senator Lindsey Graham.

Now, what somebody's sexual orientation is doesn't matter to me. I fight as hard for gay rights as I do for civil rights, women's rights and workers' rights. What does bother me is hypocrisy. Republicans who are part of the LGBTQ community and hide it, all the while placing everyone's rights in jeopardy by appointing and confirming judges or supporting laws that erode those rights.

What caught my attention was Graham's quote as a "single, white male". In most privileged white male rants about victimization, the guy usually describes himself as a "straight, white male". Being single doesn't mean shit. There is no discrimination against people who are unmarried. Being single, or married, does not put you in a protected class. It struck me as odd, during Graham's rant, that he did not use the term "straight" and instead used the word "single". The way the reasoning goes for the white privileged "victim" is, people listen to women over men, to minorities over whites and to gays over straights. I have yet to hear that someone feels discriminated against because he or she is single or married. My contention is that Lindsay substituted "single" for "straight" in this classic right wing rant for a reason.

There are plenty of less needy of attention and spotlight seeking asskissers willing to take his place.

Hope he gets the Scalia treatment when he was passed over for Chief Justice by Roberts.

I really don’t care about Graham’s sexuality.

But...something has turned these very powerful people (US Senate) into sniveling, snarling, vicious little lapdogs for someone who doesn’t have this country’s best interests at heart. And I think we need to know exactly what that something is, before we lose our democracy.

Senators, and members of congress...

If someone is blackmailing you, please, please...if you tell us what is going on, maybe we can fix it BEFORE it’s too late! Do it for your country!

The Republicans were always sniveling and vicious, but now they’re insane. I think they have all been compromised by taking money from Russian oligarchs, maybe they are being blackmailed for other reasons as well.
