The present himself watches it and gets his facts there.
Pretty much all of his supporters get their info there.
It continuously gives legitimacy to false ideas that people act on
If you took fox news out of the equation, he probably would not be president.

Nixon scoffed at the idea, calling it "a gimmick" that no one would ever take seriously.
Ailes never gave up on the dream.

(8,146 posts)the secret sneaky ones schemed to bring Nixon down, iow the well was already poisoned in 1972...woodward was a nsa special ops guy (as was Lee Oswald- office naval intelligence, a police agent set up to take the fall for JFK's public execution/ murder due to his, JFK's popularity) mind you, you are right: foxnews would have saved Nixon from the start, making Watergate unnecessary, but history is too convoluted already w/out speculations, and woodward is still pushing the fascist bs... and foxnews is just getting started. death camps are gonna happen that make holocaust look lil league, and slavery already a fact...we probably NEVER went to the moon....

I hate it when non-Fox people write/say "bashes" "slams" "targets" when they mean "disagrees".
Get those Fox words out of your mouths Democrats!
Every nine year old we know should get a copy of "Freakanomics" this Xmas. It's a fun intro to critical thinking. I guess some parents might object to the whole "We don't have serial sex killers these days because of Roe v Wade" argument, but...

(16,245 posts)We have to destroy it, somehow. I have fantasies of some deep pocketed investors buying it and changing to the Kitten Channel or something.
As a practical matter, how do we counter it? Todays Republican voters believe things that are not true and no amount of correcting it seems to get through.

(32,088 posts)Or, who refused to vote out of ideological purity, or voted 3rd party. That was enough to tip the Congress into the GOP's hands, and enough to tip the 70,000-80,000 votes in each state needed to hand WI, PA, and MI to Mushroom Dick. The failure of people to get off their asses and vote in the midterms is what put the Congress in GOP hands in 2014, not any propaganda channel.

(33 posts)I could not agree with you more. Fox News did not keep voters from voting or voting 3rd party in 2014 and 2016.
