Paul Ryan’s Iowa Speech Opens With Hecklers Getting Dragged Away And They Just Keep Coming

Paul Ryan’s Iowa Speech Opens With Hecklers Getting Dragged Away And They Just Keep Coming

.......... A big speech that Ryan was giving at the Iowa State Fair has been pretty continuously interrupted by a group of very loud protesters.

..........

...... he barely got a chance to compliment a spectator’s “cool” Packers jersey and offer an anecdote about how awesome State Fair wrist band days are before the heckling began.

Caught off guard for a second by a couple of women right in front, Ryan regained his cool and told the rest of the crowd that the women must not be from Iowa or Wisconsin since folks from those states are kind and respectful. He then pointed them out to security guards who crossed the stage and dragged the struggling women out.

Ok, back to it, right? Not so fast. Moments later, another couple, a man (whom BuzzFeed’s Zeke Miller got a nice photo of here https://twitter.com/ZekeJMiller/status/235078720908570624/photo/1) and a woman, began shouting for Ryan to “Stop the war on the common good!”

Not very Libertarian of Ryan, is it? He is as thin skinned as Romney. Maybe even more so. Biden will reduce him to tears in the debate.

Heckling does work... it works with Romney because he gets all pissed off and starts yelling.

With Ryan, it's showing that he's not popular or loved... And the protestors are not a bunch of "hippies" but all kinds of people. In fact, most of the people I've seen heckle the guy in his town halls, were all over 60.

As any stand-up comedian knows (and any politician should know), you have to engage and defeat the heckler. Stomping him out makes you look like a weak bully, not a strong and skilled speaker.

Think of how Obama and Clinton usually deal with hecklers.

Of course, if you have a weak and indefensible position to start with, you have no defense against the heckler except aggression. That seems to be the case here.

Chances are the heckling was a lot louder and coming from more people than this would lead you to believe.

You know, if one person,
just one person does it they may think he's really sick and
they won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony,
they may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in
singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an
organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said
fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and
walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement.

If you say "Boo!" to a repig speaking in public you get hauled away.

If thousands of teabaggers scream, whine, yell, and swear at an official speaking in public, they just keep screaming.
