Republicans are trying to associate us with that term. I do not think we can just ignore it.

(50,304 posts)The GOP has a trick of turning everything bad into a good result. Take "deplorables" for example. They are proud to be the deplorables. Let them say whatever the hell they want to say and throw it back at them.

I just find it super-ironic for them to use the word "mob," considering their Dear Leader's "business" connections.
This is an angry mob:

The next step is kick the doors of their castle and burn them out.
We're not a mob. Yes angry but very organized and motivated placing candidates in EVERY election. The mob rule comes from conservatives. Have you seen those rallies? Steaming pile Hump says all manner of angry and outrageous things and the crowds cheer.
I'm not scared of conservative rhetoric. I'm scared of the placemnet of over 40 conservative federal judges. I'm scared that no legislation is debated but rushed through to a vote so the white power structure can remain entrenched.

(1,757 posts)responding to the childish taunts is the losing strategy. STOP letting the right control the dialogue. I am not going to explain I'm not part of an angry mob. That's being goaded into a dialogue conservatives want. I go on the offensive. You support white supremacists, your for kidnapping and jailing children, you are supporting a foreign policy that weakens the US and strengthens Russia.
Don't defend superfluous taunts. Make then defend ACTUAL corrupt behavior.

(8,207 posts)I like the word determined rather than angry. It's a good word to use if you're doing an on-air interview or writing a LTTE or op-ed.
But whenever possible, no matter how unfair it is, I would urge protestors to remember how disciplined people were in the civil rights movement of the 1960's. Blacks knew they had to dress up, wear suits, or else they would be mischaracterized as an angry mob.
Maybe those of us who are used to the privilege of being taken seriously no matter how we dress should realize that in a protest, that privilege is diminished.
I'm thinking out loud here. I've never dressed up for a protest except when I was running for local office, but I'm thinking it's time for me to start.

(13,305 posts)...we don't go forceful enough with calling them an angry mob (which they are and have been for years now) because we are trying to be nice. Then they turn around and do it to us. We were not forceful enough with the fake news thing and then they turned around and made it their own.
Again, this is all about our willingness to go for the throat first before they do it to us. Our reluctance to do that is killing us and will continue to kill us until we find people who are willing, able, and ready to fight dirty and get down in the mud. Not to wait to react to see what they do first.

Their smears are so confusing, we are both snowflakes and an angry mob. Are we supposed to fret about every ridiculous label they slap on us? When we fret about how they are labeling us, we are put on the defensive and we lose.

(6,044 posts)Bill of Rights, First amendment of our Constitution:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances
The accusation that we are an angry mob is for the purpose of scaring their authoritarian followers-who are afraid of disorder and are more likely to vote and vote against us if we seem out of control. Republicans will try to provoke us to violence.
The answer always is to speak of peaceful non-violent protest, and act and mobilize peacefully.
Paraphrase Barry Goldwater. Anger in Defense of Liberty is no vice.
Anger is not a crime, opposing tyranny is a duty, the role of the citizen is to assemble peaceably to petition the government for redress of grievances.
