(23,970 posts)it's coming. first, brand us as an "angry mob". then run ads about "restoring decency" and "enhancing civility" and whatever other catchy synonyms their marketing bros can come up with.
we think they're being childish and unreasonable, given the shit they just pulled, but they know how to use propaganda to gain lasting advantages. expect it.

(65,191 posts)Embrace the description. Call us angry. They want angry, they'll get angry.
And they better stop with the "revolution" stuff if their demigod gets his ass in the wringer. Because, "angry".

(23,970 posts)they plan strategies that bypass us completely. they plan around the edges of democracy, where the tyranny can slip in unimpeded. we aren't their target audience, and we should damn well remember that.
they're planning on the electorate being so spooked by manifestations of (justified) outrage that they'll cling to authority figures, regardless of corruption, for an illusion of security.
we progressives are largely irrelevant to their plans, except insofar as they have a solid working strategy to marginalize our viewpoints. they played the long game and now they're very close to a complete victory. they've moved the Overton window more in the last 45 years than i thought possible. we dismiss them and their propaganda at our own peril.

(182,883 posts)This project ... is the most important thing that the Senate and an administration of like mind which we ended up having could do for the country, McConnell said. Putting strict constructionists, relatively young, on the courts for lifetime appointments is the best way to have a long-term positive impact on America. And today is a seminal moment in that effort.

(8,968 posts)After all, those gentlemen were very respectful in their protest, right? "Jews won't replace us!" Who could possibly object to that? Now if they had gone with something like "Shame!" or "Vote No!" instead, that would have been absolutely intolerable mob behavior.

(50,304 posts)It wasn't bad enough that during the Obama administration Harry Reid had to change Senate rules to get any judges appointed because the GOP blocked all the nominees, that McConnell held open a SCOTUS seat for more than a year because he wanted to save it for a Neanderthal. Not bad enough. Now they've embraced a sleazy, entitled rich kid who is pure as the driven snow despite numerous allegations of sexual assault, a boat load of perjury and a booze-filled past. We are beyond angry mob.
