Kamala Harris: Kavanaugh's confirmation a 'denial of justice' for sexual assault survivors

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) said Sunday that Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court was a "sham" and "disgrace," adding that it denied justice to every man and woman who is a survivor of sexual assault.

"Let's speak the truth that it was a denial of justice for the women of this country and sexual assault survivors, men and women," Harris, a Senate Judiciary Committee member and possible 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, said in a speech at the Ohio Democratic Party's annual state dinner, according to Cleveland.com.

She added that "what we have been witnessing is a display and an exercise of raw power."

"Power that is being exercised not just to win, but to demean, and deflate, and defeat. And we are better than this."
