Donald Trump is a good moral person and an example to the nation, according to one of the most prominent evangelical Christians in the US.
Jerry Falwell, who is credited along with other evangelical leaders with delivering a huge Christian vote for Trump in 2016, said he had no doubts, no hesitations about supporting the president. He is like Ronald Reagan on steroids.
In an interview with the Guardian, Falwell also described the Democrats as fascists and Brownshirts, and said the US would be engaged in civil war if this was the 18th century rather than the 21st century.
Falwell is the president of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, a Christian establishment with more than 100,000 students on campus and enrolled in online courses. His close association with and vocal support for Trump has embedded Libertys reputation and influence as one of the most conservative educational institutions in the country. Falwell has invited Trump to speak at Liberty three times in the past six years, and was the first evangelical leader to endorse his presidential candidacy.

Falwell's a fraud. In it for the bucks. There's nothing "Christian" about him or his followers except the label they use as a cudgel.

(8,361 posts)in order to fulfill their greater goals for a long time. One would hope there might be a limit and they would retreat from such a vile man. That's not going to happen. I do remember one woman, an evangelical leader who said she would not support Trump. One.

(576 posts)Any Christian leader who supports a man who lies as he breathes and supports defiling the Christian church and the word of God is no leader and is surely not a Christian.

(36,869 posts)Political Christians rather than Christians of faith.
They support Trump who says he is so perfect that he does not need Christ or his forgiveness.
Like today's evangelical/religious right supporters, Trump is a Political Christian, not a Christian of faith.
Evangelicals/religious right are easily able to spin their beliefs for political expediency.
The Donald who does not have to ask Jesus for forgiveness.
The Donald who ridicules Holy Communion.
