by Ronn Blitzer | 8:52 am, October 9th, 2018
Attorney Michael Avenatti has the Trump family back in his sights. This time, hes taking the attack to the presidents son, Donald Trump Jr., in response to a snarky Tweet that was directed at Avenatti on Monday. Don Jr. tweeted an article about disgraced Democratic politician Anthony Weiner possibly getting out of prison, and sarcastically suggested that we could see an Avenatti/Weiner ticket in 2020. Avenatti has been floating the idea of a possible run at the presidency.
Early Tuesday morning, Avenatti fired back, saying that Don Jr. shouldnt be joking about people in federal prison, since hell likely be headed there himself someday. Avenatti referred to Don Jr. as Bif, likening him to the Back to the Future villain.

In recent weeks, Avenatti had focused his attention on combating the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh by representing Julie Swetnick, who accused Kavanaugh of possible sexual misconduct in high school. Avenatti faced criticism that Swetnicks allegations did not come off as credibly as those of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, undermining Fords accusations and helping Kavanaugh get confirmed. Avenatti has called such claims baseless.

(7,142 posts)like John Kerry did with the Swift Boaters?
Taking down Avenatti is one of the main right wing talking points right now. If Avenatti wins the presidential nomination I'm all in for him, you?

(23,265 posts)But I don't want him to win the nomination. I have doubts that he would be a very effective president, and I'd rather have him running loose as our #1 attack monster, not with the constraints of the presidency.

(6,976 posts)Hell no. That's how Dems get into trouble.
As you said, John Kerry allowed himself to be labeled a flip-flopper and to be Swift-Boated. Just thought people would see through it, not believe it. Yeah, and Michael Dukakis also took on too much water from the master race baiter Lee Atwater and never recovered from the Summer on during his campaign. Susan Estrich told him to fight back, address the lies etc. but there he sat like a bump on a pickle thinking people would see through the lies, Lee Atwater and that crew heaped upon him. Then there was that commercial he did in a tank that ended him. Let me let that go He lost to Bush Sr. Moral of the story, Dems need to fight back with TRUTH and not just sit there and take it when thuglicans lie on them or misstate the facts on purpose. It's not like most in the corporate media will hold thuglicans accountable when they LIE. DEMS themselves have to hold them accountable when they LIE.

(43,249 posts)He has nothing to lose - no voters to alienate - because he's not running for anything in 4 weeks. He is balancing the harsh, snarky, sarcastic, distorted pile of finely honed PR lies that are dribbling from the Trumpian White House and family BS mill. Avenatti takes no prisoners, he hits as hard as he can, you can just feel the impact and hear the thuds. He will keep them on their toes and his tweets are as much inoculation as haymakers, the Trump targets hardly know what's hit them, and the tweets help keep our own committed voters from straying, and from falling asleep.
In this brass knuckles election atmosphere, Avenatti is a prize fighter of major proportion, he's a champ to want on our side!

(33,389 posts)It would be grand to see all-out tweet war with Avenatti taking on both Dons.
Keep 'em both from hogging tv time until after the election.
Might also depress some cultists.

(7,142 posts)the right fears Avenatti because he has the ability to change the narrative, to block out the right wing talking points.
He is the subject of a right wing smear campaign and we need to have his back. He would make a good president because it is going to take someone strong to take on the right wing money machine, including the corporate media.
Honestly, I hope he gets our nomination because that will mean that the American people have seen through this right wing smear campaign. Go get em Michael.

(6,254 posts)low, but now we need to change tactics. The gloves are off and Dems cant take the high road any longer, look where it has landed us. Remarkably, a rich, thin skinned puff-cake has become the champion of all the anger and resentment in the country. What is remarkable is that he offers all those malcontents ansolutely nothing but a voice of anger. People connect to that anger so we must tap into it as well along with presenting solutions that will work. I love the Obamas but sure hate Michelles motto about the high road. Until we restore the order once again in this country, its the low bumby road for me. Sad but true that Nice people finish last.
