(100,097 posts)This kind of hate is absolutely unacceptable.

(26,060 posts)College campuses have become an unfriendly place for Jews. The universities are responsible for setting the tone and it's time they stepped up.

(53,974 posts)Almost as disgraceful as the reaction (or lack thereof) such an announcement gets. I posted this in LBN.
There are those always looking for a Jew to blame, real or imagined.

(26,060 posts)Far left and far right meeting on the circle that is the political spectrum. I had to unsubscribe to women's March emails due to that twit "Zionists can't be feminists" Sansour person. I replied to her why I was un subscribing and said if she wanted to start bringing religion into women's issues, she should clean up her own house first. Still furious about it.

(53,974 posts)I can't believe those assholes are still the face of the movement. It isn't just the anti-Semitism, it is also the homophobia and the misogyny. It is that last one which really shows how much some will overlook in the name of "acceptance" when they really shouldn't be "accepting." Just goes to show, some bigots get a pass; especially if they are anti-Semites!
BTW, if you watch "The Man of High Castle", this season is very Jew-centric. One episode is even called "Sabra". But, it is very depressing!

(26,060 posts)and I march with the Zioness movement. Here in NY, we get nothing but smiles. Our signs show exactly where we are coming from. But I'm not going to take a lecture from twits like sansour or anyone else who thinks they can tell someone my age anything about feminism or any other issue when their own backyard is filled with nothing but hatred for progressive causes. Fuck them.
Never heard of that show - what's it on? I have a Netflix account but haven't really gotten started on that yet. I'm mostly a reader. But I saw A Star Is Born this past weekend and highly recommend it. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga lit up the screen.

(53,974 posts)I would expect nothing less after getting to know you over the years. It is disgustingly amazing how many will screech about majorities not dictating the minority experience, except when that minority are Jews, then everyone and their crazy uncle get to tell us what is and isn't (and how to define) anti-Semitism, what Zionism "really" means, how the Holocaust was 70+ years ago and in Europe and we need to "stop using it", and the list goes on.
As for "the Man of the High Castle", it is on Amazon prime. It is in it's third season, so binging would be the way to go. It is based on a novel by Philip K. Dick and is set in the sixties after the Nazis and Japanese win World War 2. The US is divided up in spoils of war. The Pacific Coast is run by the Japanese, and the Greater Reich runs the east coast all the way out to Oklahoma. NYC is the new capital of the American Reich. It is basically an alternative history. Check it out. Also on Amazon Prime, is [iThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel], which centers on a Jewish woman who is trying to break into comedy, set in 1958 NYC. It is VERY interesting and funny. It only has one season; season two is coming soon. And, while we are going all Jew-y, also on Amazon Prime, check out, [iThe Last Tycoon], which centers on a Jewish director played by Matt Bomer (sigh). There is only one season as it was cancelled, which really sucks, especially if you watch the last episode which is a massive cliffhanger!
I heard "A Star is Born" is doing quite well and both main stars are very good. I loved Lady Gaga in "American Horror Story: Hotel".

(26,060 posts)and I'm always getting emails from them about how I'm not taking advantages of all they offer so this may just be the kick in the butt I need. It's really weird - Jews are an extremely small minority and we are never a drain on any society - always gotten an education and work really hard but it's the oldest hatred on the planet. I will simply never understand it.

(53,974 posts)A fellow DU'er has in his signature line:
Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, their adversary is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade but to intimidate and disconcert. Sartre(M.Brooks)
A-yup! The same poster changed to the above, from this (by Sartre): "Far from experience producing his idea of the Jew, it was the latter that explained his experience. If the Jew did not exist, the anti-Semite would invent him."

(26,060 posts)They butcher the English language which only makes them look like morons who care nothing about the truth. I'm on another thread with someone who insists that someone who was free to leave and go home at any time was actually a HOSTAGE to bibi because they chose not to allow her to enter the country. FASCISM. Not one word to me about not being able to enter most Muslim countries because I have Israeli visas on my passport or that I can get ARRESTED for merely closing my eyes on the Temple Mount because Heaven fucking forbid a non-Muslim prays in JERUSALEM.
With winter coming up (although it's in the 80s currently in NY), I tend to watch more TV so I'll definitely will be keeping those shows in mind.
