Trump said Tuesday that Democrats would end ethanol if they gained power in the upcoming midterm congressional elections.
At an Iowa rally where he rolled out a plan to boost ethanol use by lifting a key limit on ethanol content in gasoline, Trump warned attendees that in contrast to his pro-ethanol policies, Democrats would be anti-ethanol.
The Dems will end ethanol, you know that, theyre not going to approve ethanol, he said. They will find a way to take it away ... you better go out there and vote for Republicans.
Iowas economy depends heavily on corn ethanol and on the federal ethanol mandate. Trumps visit came weeks before the midterm election and gave ethanol interests a major victory they have been pushing for years.

Water in gas beyond a certian level is bad for engines.

Great use for solar and wind generated electricity.
Cassman, a professor of agronomy at the University of NebraskaLincoln, said in 2008 that ethanol has a substantial net positive direct energy balance1.5 to 1.6 more units of energy are derived from ethanol than are used to produce it. Comparing 2008 to 2003, Alan Tiemann of Seward, a Nebraska Corn Board member, said that ethanol plants produce 15 percent more ethanol from a bushel of corn and use about 20 percent less energy in the process. At the same time, corn growers are more efficient, producing more corn per acre and using less energy to do so.[4]

(1,547 posts)You are getting ripped off if you pay the same amount per gallon as regular gas... And the lower energy density results in lower acceleration for non Flex Fuel Vehicles.

(24,764 posts)Democrats would want ethanol fueled cars, which I nickname "boozemobiles." Ethanol is much cleaner energy than gas or diesel.

(32,016 posts)Ethanol is a terrible product which uses more energy to produce it than it supplies. Neither party has the guts to end it unfortunately. They are in bed with the Iowa farmers who they hope will vote for them in the undemocratic Iowa caucuses.
