Mike Bloomberg Re-Registers as a Democrat, Pledges to Help Stand Up to Trump
Reuters

Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg has re-registered as a Democrat to help provide a “bulwark” against Donald Trump, he says. The billionaire had been a life-long Democrat until 2001, when he switched to the Republican Party. He turned independent in 2007. The New York Times previously reported that Bloomberg was considering a campaign for president as a Democrat in 2020 as it would likely be his only path to the White House. He’s already pledged to spend $80 million to help the Democrats take control of the House of Representatives in the midterms. Announcing his registration on Instagram early Wednesday, he wrote: “At key points in U.S. history, one of the two parties has served as a bulwark against those who threaten our Constitution. Two years ago at the Democratic Convention, I warned of those threats. Today, I have re-registered as a Democrat—I had been a member for most of my life—because we need Democrats to provide the checks and balance our nation so badly needs.”

for buying into the RW idea that running a company is comparable to or appropriate for running a government.

You do "get" the two are antithetical, right? One seeks to maximize prices to the "consumer" while minimizing costs to the seller/provider while the other seeks to maximize services while minimizing costs. You do see the difference, right? Right?

And another thing: why would you assume my differentiating between Avenatti and Bloomberg purely on the subject of party affiliation is an endorsement of Avenatti for president? We have a LOT of good candidates; I don't consider Bloomberg one of them as a bona fide member of the party or anything else.

Finally, I for one don't want a billionaire--even a real one--running my party or my government. I'll go further and say I don't think billionaires should exist, at all. What do we want or need them for anyway?
Job creation?

including strict gun control, strong pro-choice and lgbt advocate, even went as fat as implementing soda tax which is a very liberal position. I’ll support a candidate who has the best chance of winning, the time for purity tests is long gone.

This is big. I almost thought it was "fake news."

Maybe Nikki Haley will join him! I don't know how she could stand being part of the Trump crew as long as she did.
