How about this? Pence out in 2020 - Haley in as VP candidate.

Think about their remarks at the press conference the other day...

And consider that Trump loves to be first to do things.

At the presser they indicated this was planned "six months ago" - so, it's a plan. She just wants some time off before launching this new venture.

Trump: "But she’s done a fantastic job, and we’ve done a fantastic job together"

Trump: "you’ll be coming back at some point...in maybe a different capacity"

Haley: "Now, I don’t have anything set on where I’m going to go. I think that the main thing was — I was Governor for six years, and we dealt with the Hurricane, a thousand-year flood, a church shooting, a school shooting. There was a lot. And then, to come in and do two years of Russia and Iran and North Korea — it’s been eight years of intense time, and I’m a believer in term limits."

Haley: "I think you have to be selfless enough to know when you step aside and allow someone else to do the job. So, thank you, Mr. President"

Haley: "For all of you that are going to ask about 2020; no, I’m not running for 2020. I can promise you what I’ll be doing is campaigning for this one. So, I look forward to supporting the President in the next election."

Haley: "And I do think that sometimes it’s good to rotate in other people who can put that same energy and power into it."

Haley: "The truth is I want to make sure that this administration, the President, has the strongest person to fight. It was a blessing to go into the U.N. with body armor every day and defend America. And I’ll always do that; I’ll never truly step aside from fighting for our country. But I will tell you that I think it’s time."

Trump then goes on with a laundry list of accomplishments - never seems to mention Pence.

1. I think might be a reasonable theory if he concludes he, alone can carry RW Evangelicals sans Pence

And there it is - Trumps reason to replace him...

Even if Pence didn't do it - Trump might think he did...and thats probably enough.

but a more likely scenario, in my opinion, is that Lindsey Graham resigns to take the job of Attorney General, after Sessions is fired, and the Governor of SC will appoint Haley as Graham's replacement in the Senate.
