Lots of nothing after Michael.

Pity he couldn't have cast out a wider & longer lasting Shield of Jesus for the folks on the Redneck Riveria too!

(58,785 posts)"have it all" even though they're not wealthy. We have friends who travel the world between returns to their home base on the Florida coast. Many winter in Florida and return to homes where their families are the rest of the year. Some with special health problems, or who are just past the age of being able to deal with several feet of snow and other winter problems, come south as a way of protecting their health. We have a waterfront MH in a park, and one of the more expensive of this year's events, a cruise around the Caribbean, was booked up immediately. People who aren't paying thousands every year on property taxes tend to have that money available for other things.

(15,330 posts)What? They helped elect a man who promised to put people on the court that want to harm my LGBTQ child, and I'm supposed to feel sorry for them?
They helped elect a guy that rips infants and toddlers away from their parents and locks them up in cages, and I'm supposed to have empathy for them?
They've spent 40-50 fucking years basically saying; "fuck you" to people like me and my family, so I can't say "fuck you" back?

(21,849 posts)This is just one of the many ugly things aimed at Democrats. Let's not forget that Republican Senator Cruz refused to appropriate money to NY for the damage caused by Sandy back in 2012.
Hate begets hate. And the Republicans have had unending hate toward Democrats. They even came up with the ugly term Libtard.
Fuck all of them.

Have you seen a Donnie Short Fingers rally? Those folks would roast your children and feed them to you while laughing in your face.
So, I've elected that, just like when 24 5-6 year old kids get their brains blown out and their torsos ripped in half while attending school...and these Retrumplicans sent their "thoughts and prayers"...I'll do the same.

(58,785 posts)So I award this post a special prize for ignorant bigotry, malignant category.
What makes you think all those people living lives within their means are Republicans I don't know. They're not, but even if they were wishing they all lost their homes is extreme.
Btw, we're among those people. We have 2 MHs in Florida, in fact, so you might think that would make us double fucking racists, but you're already so far over the line that the acceleration is nothing.

(58,785 posts)save at least one house pet from drowning with his or her family -- and provide a replacement loving home while we're at it.
On a smilier note, dogs small enough to ride in a purse or their own stroller, and that cost very little to feed (or room to keep!), are very popular on the coast. Endlessly cute to coo over when out flea marketing or whatever, but it's such a strong trend that, while driving down the street one day, I nearly wrenched my neck gawking in surprise at a bunch of large dogs in a park. Turned out it was a training class. I guess they'd all been hidden in back yards or something, but...surprise!
Hope they're all well, along with their homes and families.

(6,798 posts)better angels but they are ignoring me. There was a time my tears flowed for all in harms way. No more. Those who live there and vote and chant hatred do not deserve my sympathy. Children are innocent but it will fall to their parents to protect them. All of my life I have believed that all of us were in this together and that we should take care of each other. No more. They care nothing about us; they loathe us. Their lies and hatred towards us know no bounds. My sympathy, activism, and money will not be used to help those who hate. I do not hate them, I simply have no sympathy for the Trumpers. Yes, I know there are nice people who live there. To them I say stay safe.

(16,168 posts)one only needs to look at what the republicants thought of New Orleans and what happened at the Superdome to get a shot of the hate that flows from them.
As you said, "........I have believed that all of us were in this together......" I'm finding out there is a political party that doesn't give a shit about what I believed.

(42,862 posts)... disparage trailer dwellers (like myself) and others who do our best to make the most out of what we have and scrape out a humble (and in our case, relatively comfortable) existence. Still, people can't resist the urge to ridicule and denigrate. All I'm trying to say here is that just because we live in a "trailer" (or "double-wide" or "delivered prefab" we are not brainless, toothless, inbred, mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging caricatures of meth-cooking drunk uneducated Trump lovers.

(90,698 posts)...are priced out. I wasn't kidding about cars and RVs -- the general attitude of local ordinances is "Those are wheels, aren't they? Well move on and don't park overnight here." Damn that is inhumane.
Mobile home parks range from very very nice (like yours) to a slide down the scale to desperately scary. What they have in common is that people need a roof over their head they can afford. All I want is for state building codes that reflect the need for safety and sanitation, just like other forms of housing.
As for DU, as I noted in another thread on another topic, we are going through a rather ugly patch just now.

(42,862 posts)Is it what I imagined for myself when I was a young girl? No.
Am I ashamed to entertain family and friends? NO!!
Is it what we can afford? Yes!
Is it easy to maintain? Yes!
Is it accessible? Mostly... a ramp would be nice... but not yet.
Are we happy here? Yes!
Is it comfortable and cozy and safe and secure? Yes!
Do we have a good life in retirement/semi-retirement? YES!
And in the past when I've challenged and pushed back against those smears, nobody has ever retreated or admitted they were wrong. The response has been "well, except you" or "present company excluded".

(6,798 posts)the tRump supporter who attacked an elderly protester with her own walker. I dont know if he lives in a house or a trailer nor do I care. This is not about housing it is about hate. The hate Mr. Trumps supporters feel for us. I have no sympathy for them whether they live in Florida, Iowa, Tornado Alley, Hawaii. They do not deserve sympathy because their hatred does not allow them to be anything other than vicious towards those who disagree with their political beliefs. How did this turn into a slam about peoples living conditions. People live where they can afford to live. Thats okay. Look at the pieces of filth we have living in the White House.
