Republicans used to love the sound of an angry mob. What happened?

There was a time, less than a decade ago, when the sound of red-faced protest was music to Republican ears.

That, of course, was when Barack Obama was president, and the tea party movement was hijacking congressional town hall meetings with shouts of “Tyranny!” There were plenty of shoving matches, and Democratic lawmakers were burned in effigy. The police were regularly called in to bring a semblance of order.

<snip>

Meanwhile, Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) lauded the conservative agitation as a pure expression of the frustrations and values of ordinary Americans.

Now it is the Democrats who are making the noise, and the argument is playing in reverse.

It seems that when Democrats protest, they are a dangerous mob. Republicans don't like it when their own tactics are used against them.

But why are they angry??? They got everything they wanted. They are angry because they thrive on anger.

It takes a hell of a lot to make Democrats that angry, but gotta hand it to Trump and the GOP for overstepping their path to government destruction. They awakened those that rarely get political.

had things even remotely resembling our principled Women's Marches, for instance. Not all liberal/Democratic marches are participated in by millions, but they are also virtually always without arrests.

Rare protests held by groups within the Capitol a special subcategory and exception, of course.

Republicans are no different. They don't like it when someone stands up to them. They're actually very frightened little boys.

They will argue whatever side of the argument is to their advantage, with no worries that they'll be held to account, and confident in the poor memory of their voters.

It's been working for years. When Dems retake control of Congress, they'll switch to Obstruction and never acknowledge that they objected to the Dems doing it.
