This woman sounds like she may have mental issues. I've read there's discussion among mental health professionals that racism so intense that it can blight people's lives be considered a psychiatric diagnosis, a personality disorder trait.

There's huge political resistance to this, of course. However, if people with genuinely serious hate problems they can't control increasingly lose jobs, access to good colleges, etc., there is likely to be increased call for access to treatment. Personality disorders can often be virtually untreatable, of course, and those are likely to be the only ones who would be medically diagnosable.

In this case, if she controls her behavior to avoid further backlash, that'll pretty much establish that she would not be.

The way the country seems to be headed, those bad-old days may be coming back.
