Do you know these kind of people?

Person X works as an employee of the state and retires with a generous pension and excellent health benefits complements of the taxpayers of that state.

Person X, with taxpayer funded benefits used as a backstop for failure, strikes out on their own and opens up a small successful mom and pop store.

Person X just posted on Facebook that he loves Paul Ryan.

How is it that these clowns don't see the socialism that enabled them to become successful?

If single-payer health insurance were available to all of us, if we didn't have to worry about losing our health care, there would be an explosion of entrepreneurs striking out on there own driving the economy in a positive direction.

I know my state has insurance programs for the poor, the federal government has the VA, chips, Medicare.

How much would the states and the federal government save, not only in money, but in simplicity?

But when it was about raising a family and feeding the hungry mouths, they weren't into taking chances at all. Coming from a military background, I know some that never received any checks during a lifetime that weren't stamped from the U.S. Treasury. Yet, they despise anything that comes from government now. It's like those checks were designed for them and them alone and nobody else. It's like the day they retired they wanted the government shut down.

Take the burden of Healthcare off the backs of businesses and you would see 10s of thousands trying to go on their own. Then there would be a need to replace those that quit their jobs for whatever reason. I have a brother in law that is a supervisor in the mining industry. Has over 30 years under his belt and could retire but can't because the company he works for doesn't provide insurance for their retired personnel. So he will have to work another 8 more years b4 he can retire.

Constantly bitches about Unions and high taxes.

Decreased property value saw tax revenues go down, the city had to negotiate with the police unions to reduce costs. The union gave in and cut benefits and had to ultimately cut positions.

Person X complains about cops losing their jobs and their benefits being cut.

NEWSFLASH DIPSHIT: had you supported your union (and unions in general), and realized that taxes pay for shit.

Oh and her husband is a prosecutor for the same said city. I've noticed that a lot of people who bitch about Big Government and taxes, work for the same said big government and are paid by our taxes.

We do not have socialism in the US.

Taxation does not equal socialism. I think you knew that, though.

but "socialism" is stretching it beyond all reason.

I do not consider government funded by taxation to be the definition of socialism. If that were the case, ALL nations except perhaps Somalia and Haiti could be called socialist.

Were YOU being sarcastic?

times their previous salary & make a fortune ensuring that, above all, the contract is never completed. 2 Collect a second pension for that until they, 3 collect SS.

But every day, at every stage, they go on non-stop about how awful the government is.

My good ol' "right to work" state doesn't have a generous pension for its employees who are not in the state legislature, and their health benefits are shitty. The pay is abominable in most positions, so most state employees are barely able to make ends meet, let alone save up enough to start a business. But, a lot of the white workers among them probably still love Paul Ryan, because they're brainwashed, unreformed Johnny Rebs like the majority of white people in this state. And, Ryan has an "R" after his name, and he's a conservative "Christian", which is all that's needed to get that crowd to love you.

Whereas those other people who get gov't help don't.
That's the summation of their ideology - I don't want my tax dollars going to THOSE people because they didn't do anything to deserve.
