Onetime presidential hopeful Scott Walker down 10 points in new Wisconsin poll

Last edited Sat Oct 13, 2018, 02:08 PM - Edit history (1)

Leading conservatives anointed Walker the GOP frontrunner in 2016. Maybe that was the beginning of the end

IGOR DERYSH, SALON - COMMENTARY 13 OCT 2018 AT 11:37 ET

Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin was the rising star of the Republican Party and believed to be destined for the White House just four years ago. Instead, he may be forced into an early retirement from politics.

An NBC News/Marist poll released Thursday shows Walker down a whopping 10 points against his Democratic challenger, state schools superintendent Tony Evers. Evers leads by 53 to 43 percent among likely voters, the survey reported.

Fifty-four percent of respondents said they had a negative view of Walker as governor, even more than the 50 percent who said they disapproved of the job President Donald Trump is doing.

Two earlier polls released in September also showed Evers up by 4 to 7 points, though a Marquette Law School poll muddled the picture this week after showing Walker with a narrow one-point lead, 47 to 46 percent.

All of the polls show a big lead for incumbent Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin, who is also on the ballot this November. Democrats have looked strong in district-wide elections in the Badger State since Trump took office.

It's sad that it took that POS turning their state into a disaster area for that to happen. Hope they can get back to what they were before they gave that asshole the reins of power.

Seems to me that his secret weapon was the clerk of Wakashua County who always managed to find that extra 7,000 votes or so to put him over the top

If she’s still there, he wins again

This maybe fueling a building blue wave in Wisconsin that is going unnoticed. Down ballot republicans gotta be sweating bullets. I know they are in Illinois where the Gop Gov. Rauner is being demolished in the polls and could actually come in 3rd place.

All Walker has for a campaign message is empty rhetoric (my opponent will give Wisconsin back to the unions!) whereas Evers has well articulated positions on the environment, education, fiscal policies, etc.

I despise Walker (a cheap punk in an expensive suit) even more than I despise tRump, so there will be much celebration if he loses this election.
