Is this election the scariest election of your lifetime?

I have to admit I was very worried about some past elections. This election scares the shit out of me and I don't scare easy. This election is different. I hope most Americans understand this. I have been voting since 1980. This is my 1st election where it feels like doomsday.

We must vote. We must tell others to vote! I’ve volunteered for the first time in my life and I’ve given money for only the 2nd. I’ve been voting since 1990.

I'm trying to remember how I felt in 2004 knowing the clusterf*** that was the Bush administration in Iraq. But even there, that was a President and party that I feel like was making a wrong decision, not what they're doing now where it feels like they're doing whatever they think they can get away with and destroying democratic and social norms in the process. If the GOP doesnt lose at least 1 piece of power it will be reinforcing Trump's ego and belief that he can get away with things and it will only get worse the longer he and the GOP enablers remain in power.

the elections are finally getting here and we can finally do something, especially since the courts won't do anything, the Congress won't do anything, and of course, you already know our worthless so called president.

I'm excited and happy and I will literally dance to the election booth and proudly put my 2 cents in (voting for all democratic candidates and my fellow Americans who wish nothing more than a better America for us all).

But his angry populist message was working. That told me the country was in deep trouble. Clinton could not bury him, which told me that even if she won, we'd continue to have trouble. I've been scared ever since.

This election looks like we are turning back from the brink. I won't be more scared unless we don't win the House.

I was among the camp who believed there was a realistic chance that Trump would win - and there was nowhere to even express that belief.

It was not welcone here- anyone suggesting Trump might win was called a right wing operative, or a concenr troll. So there was significant fear and hopelessness among those of us who saw the train coming at us, but who were treated like ckicken littles

we could still have the belief that there were serious adult Americans serving in the other two segments of government. But when McTurtle and Cubby Ryan controlled the congress and fought like they did against PRESIDENT OBAMA, it was critical that we keep some constitutional balance in the White House.
That failed - we lost.
And now we're on the verge of losing even more - the continuation of the erosion/theft of the rights of ALL Americans.
We MUST win the House.
It's a start.
Then we get rid of IQ45, either on the power of Mueller or the vote of 2020. I was gonna' say "the power of too many Big Macs, but that would leave us with Brother Pence, and that is another one that has to go).

GET OUT THE VOTE!!!!!!!!!!

It was the first Presidential election since 1994 in which there was no incumbent. The 1994 class of Republicans was by far the nastiest group the GOP had put into office in its history up until then. And even though I had voted for his dad twice, (the 1994 mid-terms made me re-embrace my inner liberal, and I've voted firmly left since then) I had no confidence that GWB would be a good President, and that he was only nominated to be an order-taking stooge for the powerful right-wing interests behind the scenes.

I knew, certainly better than the Naderites and those blockheads who still feverishly proclaimed "I vote moderate, man. I see both sides", that Gore would make a vastly superior President who would not only carry on the good things Bill Clinton had done, but might even be more progressive.

I lost sleep for weeks before Election Day, worried about the 50/50 split in the electorate. The nail-biting I did from the time NBC News reversed their call for Gore on Election Night until SCOTUS crowned Dubyah President on December 12th was the worse of my life. I knew things were about to get bad. I just had no idea how bad.

Election Day, 2008 was like awakening from a nightmare.

I never dreamed the nightmare would resume eight years later...

So glad to see Greg Palast getting mainstream coverage. Ever since I read about the bullshit in 2000, I get anxiety before elections. I don't trust these GOP racists to conduct a fair election. This is just Jim Crow bullshit. I think they're stealing as many as they can. 500,000 names have been purged in Illinois alone! We have to work so hard just to get enough people to the polls to overcome these shenanigans.

Check out Greg Palast's site (and read his books and download his movie!) to see if you have been purged if you are in Illinois, Indiana or Georgia. You can check your name against the list.

I'm still holding on to that last bit of hope. If we don't do well in midterms, it might be time to make bug-out plans if it all goes down the toilet in 2020. If that happens, the stories you heard about the Great Depression and the Civil War are going to seem like children's stories.

2016 didn't faze me in the slightest until the morning after.

My biggest fear is that Republican strategists know that every single electoral manipulation in their favor since 2000 has succeeded. Not one fraudulently achieved Republican victory has been overturned. One fine day, my fear is that they will cease the pretense, and that every Senate seat, House seat and Governorship will be an "astonishing Republican upset victory," and they will award them every last seat in the government--blatantly, openly, and with a smug "whattaya gonna do about it" expression on their faces, as the Roberts Five hands down decision after decision confirming the legality of it all.

Likely? Not so far. Impossible? Are you going to tell me that after 2010, 2014 and 2016?
