Latest Killer Gunman (Texas version): right wing Glenn Beck fan,gun nut.

College Station Shooter Posted About Guns, Politics

Thomas “Tres” Caffall, who police say killed two people and injured at least three more in Texas today, left a long online trail. His interests were scattered, including firearms and video games, Glenn Beck and Shakespeare.

The gunman accused of killing two people today in College Station, Texas, including a police officer, has been identified by a family attorney as Tres Caffall; the College Station PD issued a statement as well, identifying him by his full name: Thomas Alton Caffall III.

Unlike Sikh temple shooter Wade Page and Aurora shooter James Holmes, 35-year-old Caffall had an active online presence. On Facebook, he posted numerous pictures of firearms, along with rants and political quotes.

Which I think would have a much higher ranking of the reasons he started shooting at the Constable, you know the guy there to serve the eviction papers, than whatever Glenn Beck has said.

When people are desperate, and seriously, getting evicted means the dude has financial issues, they do desperate things.

He was just the messenger. Literally.

I agree with you about desperate people, but to shoot the person whose job it is to serve the eviction papers on you? That's beyond reason.

Seriously, that's not something that should ever seem like a good idea to anyone. No matter how desperate you may think things are. Killing innocent people isn't a solution. Ever.

I'm saying you have a man that's is clearly having financial issues - enough that he's getting evicted - and when people feel desperate they do things that sound right to them, but clearly aren't right. It's not right to shoot a constable just doing his job.

But we don't even know the full story on this guy. Did he recently lose his job? Have his car repoed? Getting harassing calls from collectors? Knowing he's getting evicted may have been his last straw and he snapped.

And no, I'm not excusing shooting the constable or anyone else. And no shooting people isn't right - I'm not saying that it is in any way an acceptable solution to anything.

That really wasn't my impression or intention.

The guy was divorced a year ago, quit his job 9-months ago and went full in scary gun obsessed, hate filled wacko, from what I read. So much so his parents have been afraid he'd do them harm.

I'm just frustrated with our current system. Where people who have real mental health needs keep slipping through the cracks and being primed to believe violence is a solution.

Rereading my post I realize I wandered off from making that point by about a mile. I wasn't aiming my thoughts at you, though. I'm sorry if it seemed that way.

The Dept of Homeland Security has billions of dollars of antiterrorism technology and personnel. They've read all of our Internet postings and email. Everything known about us has been run through acres and acres of computers. Everybody has been profiled.

Okay. Genies and bottles, and massive governmental violation of wiretapping laws for years, and all that. But, government now has one of those rare, fleeting moments of opportunity to actually do something to protect the public. Go after the white male terrorists with guns. The NSA and CIA and DIA and FBI and BATF and the guy who runs the local range know who they are.

So, just start with the ones who've bought human hunting licenses and lots of ammo. Try it, Agent Mike. You might just get some pride in your job back.

The FBI and the spooks have had no problem or qualms about infiltrating and disrupting and arresting quite a few perceived security risks on the Left over the years.

It's not like it isn't in Officer Mike's DNA. He just needs to wake up and readjust his screen settings to the Right. It's a target-dense environment over there -- points right> -- Mike.

However, there is a pattern of gun violence and Right-wing extremism that goes along with it that no one in gov't (certainly elected office) is willing to discuss, much less act on. It's all soothing words and flags at half-mast until it happens again, and again, until finally it's just the new normal.

We need to hold our own favored politicians feet to the fire until they finally get off the center of the cross-hairs they've triangulated themselves into. The Democratic Party needs to become the party of reasonable restrictions on firearms, again. Stop pandering to the Rightwing terrorism of the NRA.
