https://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2018/10/13/mom-shields-baby-from-hailstorm-orig-acl.cnnAn Australia mom was covered in black and blue bruises this week after she and her young daughter became trapped in a hail storm and she had no choice but to shield the baby with her body, reports say.
Fiona Simpson, 23, told The Project that she wasnt aware of the weather forecast in Queensland before she decided to take her grandmother and 4-month-old daughter, Clara, to a coffee shop on Thursday. When severe rain started picking up, Simpson pulled over to the side of the road, she wrote in a Facebook post. Thats when it started to hail.
The back window, where Clara was, the whole back window just blew out glass went everywhere through the car, the told The Project. So I took off my seatbelt, climbed through the back and just laid on top of her.

relate a bit having been in a $625 Million $$ hailstorm in Denver, Colorado on July 11, 1990.
All traffic had to stop on a busy highway when it started coming down out of nowhere. It was scary in the seat of the older Ford pickup.. with softball size hail pelting down. The windshield was all spider webbed and I was shaking holding a grocery bag to cover my face. I looked over at the car next to me.. and he was crouched in the back seat.
And, then it was over with my boss' 1974 truck all dinged and spider webbed. It must have been heavy glass!
