General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have watched bits and pieces of MSNBC this morning and I tell ya
Its all about that fucking Trump..oh there was a small segment about AZ and Teachers and millennial voters but then it was right back to Trump..how his message was Caravans and Kavanaugh..and how it seemed to e working.
If we think that Comcast or Disney or Time Warner or CBS Corp. is going to back down from building up Trump or the Right Wing Fascists..Foorget it.
The Hosts want to keep their job so they will naturally follow the scripts from all the Corporate Media Mafia members...and they always seem to throw in those little tid bits after talking about Trump's continuous campaign and say..."It seems to be working"
There was a post yesterday on DU which hit the nail squarely on the head...
"This election is not about Democrats or Republicans "Its democracy vs fascism and it's staring us right in our face."
So Republicans now own the Supreme Court,and for the most part the Media,and it is scary as hell
Im a baby boomer,never is my wildest dream did I ever think that we would ever be confronted with factual evidence that we could lose our democracy.
This resembles the 1930's Germany and the Rise of Hitler's Nazi Party in so many ways.
Taking over the Supreme Court was one huge step for the Republicans to accomplish a Fascist Government.

(8,419 posts)Many just don't get it. They will claim it is just the media trying to get a horse race. The funny thing is, those spouting the line think they are being intelligent. I have never seen one provide any evidence of the press acting in a similar manner when Dems were on the wrong side of the polls.
Edited to add: LOL, while typing my response, the usual statement was posted.

(8,419 posts)So the bias isn't Liberal, the bias is towards corporations.
Thus every issue and event is shown through a biased lens.
Look at the word clouds of the media statments during the 2016 election.
Every event in Obama's first term was defined as a potential to make him a lame duck President.
This has nothing to do with the media trying to create a horse race and everything to do with media bias due to corporate funding.

(7,447 posts)how important this election is. That includes MSNBC, and it includes folks on here.
And that's fine. Go ahead and freak out. So long as that energy leads you to vote and/or work towards electing Dems everywhere.
If it leads folks to sit at home disillusioned on election day then stop freaking out.
Here's what's going to happen:
We win the House and lose the Senate. We are going to close the gap on legislatures and governorships.
The same basic math that was there a year ago, is the same basic math that is there now.

(58,785 posts)Yes. Terrifying. 1930s Germans are among the citizens of many democracies who voted (or "voted" by not voting) to replace the power of their vote with authoritarian oppression of themselves and destruction of their wellbeing.
It's something that has happened many times, and America unquestionably is headed that direction.
Recent polls show that shockingly large numbers of respondents think we'd do better to trade elections for authoritarian government. And they're not all conservatives. Though the greatest passion is among those who want to stop losing the "culture wars" and have come to realize a right-wing dictatorship is how they finally win, those who simply lack the conviction to fight to save democracy outnumber the others.
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
