... Its going to be an election of the caravan. You know what Im talking about, Trump told supporters at a rally in Missoula, Montana, declaring his intention to use the migrants journey as a bludgeon against Democratic candidates.
There is evidence that Trumps use of the caravan as a campaign issue may be effective among the Republican base. A recent poll by the Pew Research Center found that 75% of voters who intend to vote for a Republican congressional candidate consider illegal immigration a very big problem for the country ...
Trump claimed, without any supporting evidence, that Democrats were behind the caravan, and raised conspiracy theories that the Central Americans had been paid to come to the United States for political reasons ...
A lot of moneys been passing through people to come up and try to get to the border by election day, because they think thats a negative for us. Number one, theyre being stopped. And number two, regardless, thats our issue ...

... Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) tweeted a video he said was from Honduras of women and children receiving cash to join the caravan and storm the U.S.-Mexico border ...

The caravan didnt just happen and a lot of money has been passing through to people to come up and try to get to the border by election day because <Democrats> think thats a negative for us, Trump told the crowd ...

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) Eager to bring immigration to the forefront as the midterm elections near, President Donald Trump suggested without evidence that Democrats or their allies are supporting a "caravan" of Central American migrants who are traveling north aiming to enter the United States.
Addressing thousands of supporters at a campaign rally in Montana Thursday, Trump said immigration is now one of the leading issues in the 2018 midterms, and he accused Democrats of supporting the migrants because they "figure everybody coming in is going to vote Democrat."
The comments mark the injection of one of Trump's signature 2016 campaign themes back into national conversation as he looks to boost Republican turnout to maintain their congressional majorities in 2018 ...

(20,006 posts)They can't vote so why would Democrats back this?
Far, far, far more likely desperate Republicans are behind this to stoke anti-immigrant racism just in time for the midterms--and trying to project their crooked tricks onto Democrats.
