GOP rep demands ‘immediate recall’ of acting US ambassador to Saudi Arabia

Colorado Rep. Mike Coffman (R) on Friday condemned the admission by Saudi Arabian officials of the death of Jamal Khashoggi, writing that the U.S. can't sit by while allies commit human rights violations.

In a statement released through Twitter, Coffman called on President Trump to immediately order the return of the U.S.'s acting ambassador to Saudi Arabia, despite that position remaining unfilled and the top duties at the U.S. embassy in Riyadh being handled by Christopher Henzel, the interim chargé d’affaires at the facility.

"[O]ur country must stand up for our values and demand our 'allies' respect human rights," Coffman wrote. "I did not fight to have us look the other way."

"I am calling on President Trump to immediately recall the (acting) U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom pending further consultation with Congress," he added.

I tired of praise for any repbulican who has a momentary laps of insanity and says something tolerable. That republican still belongs to the party that is ok with and makes excuses for things like this saudi murder, children in cages, misogony, racism, etc.

He considers it useless. He makes "DEALS."

His failure to appoint ambassadors to so many nations is all the evidence one needs to understand his disdain for international diplomacy. He doesn't care about our embassies. He doesn't care about the function of the Ambassador in any nation.

So, he won't recall the acting Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, because he doesn't think Ambassadors matter in the first place.
