FDA Nearing Approval of Highly Addictive New Opioid

In a controversial move, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is moving toward finalizing the approval of a highly addictive opioid. The decision was made by the FDA's advisory committee on October 12, where a 10–3 vote occurred in favor of the drug hitting the market

Yes, all opioids are potentially addictive, and this is no different.

This is an extremely potent pain medication intended for use in an acute care setting, for severe trauma related, or acute postoperative pain, or possibly severe end stage cancer pain.

This is not a medication that you'll be picking up at your corner drug store.

Just because there are people abusing drugs, it does not mean that there is no legitimate place for strong opioids in the treatment of severe pain.
