"Mueller report PSA: Prepare for disappointment.". Wtf?

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/10/19/mueller-investigation-findings-914754

For starters, Mueller isn’t operating under the same ground rules as past high-profile government probes, including the Reagan-era investigation into Iranian arms sale and whether President Bill Clinton lied during a deposition about his extramarital affair with a White House intern. Those examinations worked under the guidelines of a post-Watergate law that expired in 1999 that required investigators to submit findings to Congress if they found impeachable offenses, a mandate that led to Starr’s salacious report that upended Clinton’s second term.

Mueller’s reporting mandate is much different. He must notify his Justice Department supervisor — currently Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein — on his budgeting needs and all “significant events” made by his office, including indictments, guilty pleas and subpoenas.

When Mueller is finished, he must turn in a “confidential report explaining the prosecution or declination decisions” — essentially why he chose to bring charges against some people but not others. His reasoning, according to veterans of such investigations, could be as simple as “there wasn’t enough evidence” to support a winning court case.

Then, it will be up to DOJ leaders to make the politically turbo-charged decision of whether to make Mueller’s report public.

Article refers to statement from defense lawyers (ha!) And someone who worked for Ken Starr.

on Mueller's investigation which has been perfectly leak free. This propaganda is an example of how the RW uses all angles to suppress the vote. Don't fall for this useless bullshit.

Screw Politico.

"Then, it will be up to DOJ leaders to make the politically turbo-charged decision of whether to make Mueller’s report public." - what utter twaddle. Like we're not going to see the report, like Mueller hasn't been indicting Russians.

I question your motives for posting this.

....and I have been reprimanded for it under some rule that says "don't bring rw smears" ....but that is ill-conceived, IMO.

Propaganda and spin must be seen in order to be called out; in order to be aware of the parameters of the fight.

To hide from it is to fight blindfolded.

If you can't fight with your eyes and ears open, then you're a bystander and don't be critical of those who can't be a bystander.

I do worry that expectations for the report are so sky high that we are bound to be disappointed.
I seriously doubt it's going to be an open and shut case of impeachable criminality.
And Trump will do everything he can to spin the result into something incomprehensible.

Once the report is done I fear the battle will have only begun and the war over it will be intense.

It's an organized attack.

The product of the Freedom Caucus in Congress, and also of Russian interference.

They want us to lose heart. They want us to bow to despair.

It's Putin's plan, too.

And yes..........the sources are DEFENSE LAWYERS and FORMER GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.

Really stupid.

I was talking recently to someone who has worked in organizing in this election and also in 2016. She described her frustration at encountering Dems/Progressives who are not focused on the midterms, but are laser focused on the Muller investigation.

The message to Dems should be clear: Muller alone isn't going to save us from Trump, and voting in at least one Blue house of Congress is the only way to ensure his work gets out there.

First, none of us can be certain that Muller has found wrongdoing that implicates the President. Even if he has, he presents the report to Rosenstein, who may (or may not) proceed to bury the findings. On November 7th, Jeff Sessions will be terminated as AG. Rosenstein and Muller will likely be fired the same day. Again, the report probably gets buried. On the other hand, if the House goes Blue, their first act will be to rehire Muller in January 2019 as part of hearings into a variety of topics.

because they think that will cause us to give up.

The hope of success prods people forward better than the fear of failure. They know that, so they're trying to discourage us. Also, they're trying to set it up so that if, after the election, Trump tries to quash the investigation, they can argue that it was never going to amount to anything anyway.

The genesis has been exposed as a coordinated effort by the Freedom Caucus of Congress. The right-wingers.

Also, we are informed that a Russian has just been charged with the crime of interfering in THIS election by various means meant to affect the voting of Democrats.

Also, why would young people who haven't voted before want to come out to do so for a bunch of hangdog campaigns?

Buck up, people. Show some enthusiasm. And confidence.
