(5,722 posts)Since when does an unpopular president rile up his base in an off year election????
Bill Clinton, George W., and Barack Obama were "poison" to any candidates running when their poll numbers were down.
When did the dynamics change??
People like Ted Cruz should be losing votes with the endorsement of Trump!

(10,721 posts)His endorsement usually meant victory. The Republican Party base is very disturbed. As I keep saying, we aren't dealing with people who simply have a different take on the role of government or tax rates. We're dealing with some of the worst humanity has to offer. Vile, ignorant, racist, sexist, heterosexist, violence-loving evil.

(5,722 posts)and in 1986 (with his poll numbers down) Reagan flew all over the country, trying to "nail down" republican senate seats.
The greatest modern day republican president couldn't save his senate majority that year.
Trump is total garbage!

(10,721 posts)They can't run from Trump. The base will throw them to the wolves if they do. They have to hope that Trump's support, voter suppression, apathy, an irresponsible ratings-focused media and gerrymandering are enough to propel them to victory. Those who remain will likely be the craziest of the crazy, so the GOP will be that much worse. But hopefully have a lot less power.

(11,645 posts)In this ultra capitalist society they are not just reporting news they are selling it. So no matter how ridiculous one side is, they are deathly afraid of pissing off 40% of their market, so they play both sides.

(10,721 posts)That's a simple enough message, and in a sane society, only a fringe element would take issue with it. But, alas, this is a very, very sick society. Human decency is radical.
