It was set for the same time as the Trump/Cruz rally - haven't seen anything about it.
Anyone have details?

Without that tech though, I suppose we have to rely on questions of alleged sincerity and a purported curiosity.

(58,724 posts)Can we discuss whether or not Avenatti is helping or hurting the cause?
Edit to add: Personally, I'd rather we talked about what is going on in Yemen, but no one responds to posts on that subject.
ChubbyStar
(3,191 posts)Now that is true LOGIC.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)But the latter generates a much greater response than the former, so I will engage with the topic that more people are interested in discussing here.

(7,638 posts)Don't know if lighting a fire and screaming there's a fire is a good way to start a discussion. You respond intelligently most of the time, so when you just toss something out there you know, I know, and probably everyone knows the intent. Honest discussion is what you're looking for.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Honest discussion is what I'm looking for. Here's my question, presented in a calm and reasonable way: Is Avenatti problematic for the success of the Democratic party? My view is that he is and I would like folks to consider the reasons why. I also understand why others feel he is helping the party and I'm definitely open to changing my view and having the conversation.

(3,259 posts)He said he was going to do a rally in Texas on the day of the Trump/Cruz rally.
I guess those twitter photos are better PR for him - otherwise, why not just do the work without tweeting about it, like the many many lawyers helping those separated at the border.

While Oberlin College has a tradition of progressive causes, it's the " quietly and humbly" that makes it so so much better

(7,261 posts)He has worked for Democratic causes for many years.
That you denigrate him based on baseless claims reveals an irrational bias against him for some unknown reason.
We can each come to our own conclusions about said reasons in the absence of any compelling rationale.
In the meantime don't profess to know what Oberlin students would find appalling because you haven't a clue.

Oberliner, and others, please don't inflict 2 years of this attorney on us by turning him into another populist Sanders surrogate, or whatever this is. Avanotti's handsome and articulate and seems well suited to his current career as an attorney who loves the limelight. Let's leave him to it?

As you say, it is much the same as passing fads for sports and entertainment figures. In this case some want rescuing and a shiny new leader to follow who doesn't ask them to read policy positions.
