They are stealing the election before our eyes

voter purges, suppression, poll closings.
The Dems will need at least 5% to 10% just to break even.

And the media barely whispers about it. And if the Repugs steal this and take the House, we will hear the pundits drone on about how the voters choose them. The way they never acknowledge how Trump lost the vote.

We are in danger of losing our Democracy.

It will get worse as November 6 gets closer. Basically it goes "They are stealing the election from us right under our noses. Don't bother to vote or convince other people to vote". The essential goal is to convince us that it's all hopeless.

BULLSHIT!!!!! Vote, Vote, Vote. Convince family and friends to vote. Never give up or listen to the trolls.

People are working on it. Lawsuits have been filed, other things are being done. All WE can do, unless we work for the ACLU or other organizations who are actually trying to combat this, is VOTE and encourage others to vote. Don't whine and cast gloom and doom. VOTE.

I am just voicing my concern of a very real threat to our Democracy that can cost us this election.
Yes we must GOTV, but we must be aware we could lose some close races because they are trying to steal it.

As to what can be done. If we regain power in 2020 we MUST enact a new Voting Rights Act to stop this from happening again.

It's time for term limits, the overturn of citizen's united, public funding of elections, and standardized voting rights acts. It would be the most difficult legislation ever enacted. The entire RepubliCON party would go apeshit over that, and a fair share of Democrats would be up in arms as well. It doesn't matter, because it must be done! Dark money is destroying our political process.

So we have our work cut out for us, edhopper. Let's get busy, OK?

voter suppression tactics and were already in place, waiting for them. The day after Trump was chosen "president" by Putin and the archaic electoral college system, I started giving money to the ACLU. Best money I ever spent. They had so many new members, and so much money from those new members, that they could do things they only wished for before. I will never allow my ACLU membership lapse as long as I live. Idiot RepubliCONS don't even know that the ACLU protects their rights as well, and would fight equally hard if their civil liberties were being infringed upon. They never are, of course, because they're the 'infringers', not the 'infringees'.

Trust me, for the vast majority of voter suppression issues the ACLU is all over it.

here. It is so easy to give up when you get immediately squelched by apologists who say ' don't dare imply anything bad. '

I agree with what you said. I was so hoping we would go with
Buttigieg, who Howard Dean endorsed. He seemed so media savvy and wanted to target millennials.

I have seen many pleas on Twitter from Dems who are begging for answers on why, with the unbelievable amount of one-sided trashing of our party and what we believe, can not even afford national ads? We've got the backing of the most creative minds on Mad Ave and Hollywood...why not ?

the proven hacking. We should be demanding that every Democrat include in his platform a promise to undo Citizens United. That's just a start.

GOTV is not all. It's a great start, but we are stupid if we think GOTV is all. They are working to make sure GOTV is not enough.

because of voter suppression in WI and MI. Why do so many accept that we need more than 51% to win?

Kemp had purged over 100,000 voters in Georgia, if he wins by 50,000 or 60,000 do we just wring our hands and just say we didn't GOTV enough?

They can't surprise us with their voter suppression any more. We, and attorneys around the country, are ready and waiting for their basket of dirty tricks this time. Fool us once, shame on them. Fool us twice, shame on us! Earlier this year I was as alarmed as you about GOP voter suppression. Then I started to see that people were already in place, just waiting to beat back these vote thieves, and stop them in their tracks. I'm not gullible enough to think we'll stop every attempt to keep someone from voting, but the vast majority is covered in my estimation.
