A ton of cities in the US and around the world have been planned and the number will continue to grow. If you goggle "Women's March, sister marches" and your city's name you could be directed to a facebook page to find out if an event is near you yet.

(1,483 posts)I don't want to dis anybody else's party, but I did not do the pink pussy hat thing last time and I'm going to give it a guiltless pass this time.
I'm clearly a white woman. I don't need to march around calling attention to it. After the election I wanted to go around apologizing about it, but that's for another thread.
HOWEVER, no shade to those who are going.

(15,682 posts)Apologize for what? What is the "it" you wanted to apologize for? Your vote? Our candidate? Our candidate forbehavior and infighting during the primaries? Being a white woman who stands up for other women?
I'm honestly confused with your post but would like to understand.

(1,483 posts)And I was so optimistic that my cohort would go for Hillary in a huge way. It wasn't just a question of trusting the polls.
It just didn't occur to me that the majority of white women could vote for Trump. I thought we as a group were going to take the opportunity to do something amazing and historical..
After Nov 6..
I felt a deep sense of shame for being a white woman. Hopefully that is okay to say here? Someone down thread expressed shame about being a white man..I can relate.
I think it is good the organizers of the march have been trying to make it more intersectional, I also know that at this point it is not the event for me, but that does not mean that if someone else is excited to go that I think there is anything wrong in that.

(4,492 posts)The biggest breakdown I'd like to see is married vs unmarried.
I've talked to way too many women who have told me that they vote how their husbands tell them to. (Talked to as in this is what I've been told while canvassing/phonebanking for Democratic candidates)

(67,808 posts)Its not a physical killer. From our entrance at Union Station, to the Lincoln Memorial and back is about 5 miles. An easy walk, particularly over the course of several hours.
That one in January 2017 was an amazing, incredible event. The crowd was HUGE but incredibly polite and orderly. A day to remember. One for the ages, perhaps.
This one will, I HOPE, be a celebration of what that march started. The year of WOMEN.

(522 posts)My sister and I went last year and will go back again in 2019. It is a very uplifting experience, we need to do that for ourselves and hopefully the pols will notice. At 70 plus years old, I need that energy boost I get from all the younger, energized women and girls. I especally like seeing the fathers who brought their young daughters.

(51,610 posts)anti-tRump rallies I have attended are people over 50. I have been to over 20 events and I can see that the older protesters really care enormously about the direction our country is going. These are people who have experience with life and they know that this is very, very serious. They are worried for our country.

(4,492 posts)I'm also getting a bag of pussyhats ready to go.
I already 'marched' to the polls, err my mailbox, and voted straight Dem ticket.

(51,610 posts)I haven't voted yet, but will vote straight Dem as usual. I get sheets of the stickers when I vote so I figured it is a way to spread the word to GOTV. I used to get the stickers in various languages for my multi lingual classroom...we voted all the time for everything. The kids loved it. My classroom was very democratic and fair and it was a year long civics lesson for First Graders.

(4,492 posts)I haven't actually been to my polling place in at least 5 years. I work on campaigns for a living so I'm a perennial absentee voter.
My laptop needs an I VOTED sticker.

(51,610 posts)all do too since she comes with me when I vote and they give her a sticker since she is a Dem doggie.
