The Campbell Soup Co. is distancing itself from incendiary comments made by one of its executives, former Senate secretary Kelly Johnston, on Twitter Tuesday about the large group of migrants making its way toward the Mexican border.
In the tweet, Johnston suggested that George Soross Open Society Foundations had orchestrated the migration of thousands of people and was even controlling where they defecate. Johnston accused the group of having an army of American immigration lawyers waiting at the border.
The tweet and Johnstons account have since been deleted. Johnston, Campbells vice president of government affairs, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Washington Post.
In an email to The Post, Campbells said it does not support the views Johnston expressed in the tweet. The opinions Mr. Johnston expresses on Twitter are his individual views and do not represent the position of Campbell Soup Company, the company said.

(22,133 posts)can of soup now...the price of soups, including generics has gone up through the roof, and you are indeed better off making your own. It'll be better tasting too. I used to get lots of soup, store it, when I was a kid/young adult, and it was easier to fix and eat & use in recipes.
As I gotten older, I noticed that the prices have not gone down but instead, roughly doubled and tripled in prices all across the board. Some tomato pastes, sauces, and stewed / petite / sliced canned tomatoes are also very pricey compared to what they originally were. This is why I try to always grow tomatoes and use during the summer months and beyond, to help soften the pricing blow.
