People in the news keep saying the pipe bombs didn't get close enough to harm their targets as if that somehow makes the act of mailing a pipe bomb less horrible and evil.

I'm glad the packages didn't get close but so many others could have died in the handling.

Even if it turns out they weren't built to explode - the act itself is an act of terror and still very serious.

today (I presume?), and that coordinating delivery of all of these devices at the same time entailed quite some planning and coordination, so multiple people involved more than likely. Some radical group, perhaps the white nationalists, responsible for Charlottesville maybe? May be far fetched, but these guys resp. for Charlotteville are being taken down everywhere and there is no where to hide for these guys responsible.

That they were all delivered today is a testament to the regularity of our mail sorting and processing systems.
