McDonald's is hoping a big new breakfast sandwich will help bring in more customers.Triple Breakfast Stacks will hit menus on November 1. They're modified versions of McDonald's popular Egg McMuffin -- they will include two slices of American cheese, two sausage patties, bacon and an egg, The sandwiches are available on a McMuffin, biscuit, or McGriddles cakes.
The new items are designed to help McDonald's solve a problem: Fewer Americans are eating at the fast food chain. A new breakfast could help bring them back.
In a statement on Tuesday, the company said that the items are inspired by customized orders made by McDonald's (MCD) customers.
"People have been hacking our menu for years," said Mike Haracz, manager of culinary innovation. The triple stacks were inspired by those orders, he said. Linda VanGosen, vice president of menu innovation, said that customers have been requesting bigger sandwiches for breakfast.

(32,086 posts)Especially if you get them to leave off the fake cheese. These new ones are a heart attack waiting to happen. They just ooze grease.

(85,998 posts)...and the bacon is overkill, just as it is in any normal breakfast.
It's a stomach-churning as the McGriddle.

(14,974 posts)But apparently this is not a common opinion. I really, truly, cannot stomach it's taste, texture, or appearance. Gross, gross, gross.
If it weren't for that, and I was on a road trip or for some other reason unable to eat breakfast at home, I guess I'd be willing to try one of these.

(16,319 posts)"American cheesethe kind you get in the individual plastic wrappersis processed cheese or cheese food, meaning its not actually real cheese. The next time youre at the grocery store, take a look at the packed singles and notice how many dont actually have cheese in their name.
In short, Kraft Singles are made with less than 51% actual cheese, so it cant legally be called "cheese."
However, not all American cheeses are made equal. Classicallybefore the factory-processed stuff hit the marketAmerican cheese was a blend, often of cheddar and colby, made for easy melting and approachable flavor. The cheese you find at the deli counter is usually made from real cheese

Land of Lakes is a real American cheese...

(16,319 posts)I recently discovered that the qt. Pounder is pretty decent when ordered without those two slices of "cheese".
Did you know that you can get a meatless egg mcmuffin for a buck? You order a sausage mcmuffin, without sausage and then add a round egg.

(34,111 posts)Really? We do need more bacon and another pattie of sausage on the egg and cheese and more bread. I do not eat there.
Keep giving the customer what they want McD's and there will no longer be customers...unless you have someone who is thin enough to fit in a car and healthy enough to work because your customers are rapidly getting sick and will soon be none of those things.
Maybe it is my bad mood but this seems just stoopid. Do they not make enough money, is it all about having more than the other guy? Yes, I know. Bad mood, should get off and eat something NOT 1000 calories worth in my first meal of the day. My god, I should have become a cardiologist.

Looks like it'd just be so overwhelming though that you would only be able to eat just one and it'd fill you up and you'd not want to eat McDonalds again for awhile. So the perfect fast food, heh.

(1,078 posts)The last two times (separated by several months) I got an egg McMuffin they both had egg shells in them. And that is a major gross-out/pet peeve for me. I doubt I'll get a third one. Perhaps if they did a little better with quality control it would help as well.
As to the new monstrosity: Does it come with a coupon for a free heart bypass? My LDL level went up 20 points just looking at the thing.

(34,075 posts)I stop there mainly for coffee, when I'm on the run to somewhere.
I order coffee, the cashier grabs it, and I'm on my way.
Last time I stopped in there I skipped the new order kiosks, went to the cash register, ordered my coffee, then she turned to the next person.
I waited about 15 minutes for my coffee order to wind its way through the order queue of people ordering full meals.
Fired off a letter t them telling them I won't likely be back, since I only stop when I need to grab a coffee and go, and at those times I can't really afford to wait while they cook several full meal orders.
