Is Trump's Build The Wall Chant/Idea Rooted in Eugenics?

I am watching the PBS American Experience documentary about Eugenics. It was mentioned during the documentary that a prominent Eugenicist, Charles Davenport, wrote a letter to a fellow Eugenicist, Madison Grant, asking the question, "Can we build a wall high enough around this country as to keep out the cheaper races?" The documentary then went on to talk about how Eugenics was used as an argument to change immigration laws. It pointed out that Madison Grant lobbied Congress to limit immigration in order to prevent the white race from being tainted and to keep America a white nation.

It is fascinating to see how so many of Trump current policy ideas are linked to racist ideas of the past. First, it was Make America Great Again and America First. Now, there is a chance that his build the wall ideas is also rooted in a past racist idea.
