A kitten stuck in the middle of road her paws glued to the pavement was rescued by an alert driver and now has a forever home.
Sticky is her name. She's 5-8 weeks old and weighs 1.3 pounds.
Her new family includes Stewie, an 8-pound Chihuahua, and Jojo, a 115-pound great Pyrenees.
"She's already well-established with the dogs and everybody else," said Chuck Hawley, the hero of this story.

(24,764 posts)Thank God little Sticky has a loving home now because if she weren't rescued, she'd have been crushed.

(26,060 posts)I had to put my baby down this past weekend and I'm still brokenhearted and cry every time I walk into my house and then you have people who do this to a living creature. May the G-ddess bless Mr. Hawley and all the other animal lovers out there.

(37,648 posts)I went through that last November. I just walked around crying, "I want him back. I want him back." I was beside myself. So I know how you feel. Those of us who love our pets like that...it's hard.
This man is extraordinary...to notice, and then to do something about it. A man with a heart.
I bet he's a Democrat.

(26,060 posts)He's a Democrat. Just came back to an empty home again and can't stop the weeping. But I'm a pet owner so I already got accepted as Pet Rescue mommy and will be going to a kitten adoption on Saturday. I'm going to take 2 so they always have each other's when I'm not home. Wish I could adopt them all but it's only a 1 bedroom apartment - a large one but still....I have an immediate dislike for anyone who doesn't like animals. Think of ours over the rainbow bridge living the good life. If you in a position to, adopt one....so many need loving homes.

(37,648 posts)Both of mine were rescues. The one I have left is a Jack Russell mix, so is feisty, and is an alpha & territorial. I don't think she'd accept another dog in the family.
I want another one desperately, though.
Good for you to adopt! I wouldn't buy a dog, what with all the unwanted ones that need homes. And I swear they KNOW they've been rescued.

(26,060 posts)they have been rescued. Butch was litter ate to Sundance who we lost early last year and Butch aged overnight. He never really recovered and the doctor also said he was showing signs of a brain tumor. Letting them both go wrecked me. My extended family has some purebred dogs but most and all the cats are rescues. We also have foster parents for an organization called Muddy Paws. I went with Oet Rescue last time also.
When you're ready, there is a lucky (or two) just waiting for you and their forever home.

(7,447 posts)Last month so I totally feel you. I got a new kitten the same day and that's definitely helped. The idea that someone human could do this is just infuriating.

(26,060 posts)It really does rip a hole in your heart and life. I'm glad you got another. I learned last time I faced this there is no sense waiting. We pet owners have a lot of love to give and it doesn't take away from how we felt for those we lost. I hope your heart is healing.

Not blaming Trump, obviously, but drawing a connection between his rabid mag a fans and the kind of people who can hurt animals like this.

(51,608 posts)When it comes to animal cruelty I say there is no punishment severe enough for what they deserve. Once I was called to jury duty and brought my bills with me. I was one of the people chosen and the case was against three people who were charged with animal cruelty to some pit bulls. The judge asked if anyone feels they couldn't remain non judgemental and my hand shot up. I told him that I just wrote a check to the Humane Society (I really did...It was in my bag) and to me I can not be non judgemental with this issue. I was dismissed and home by lunch.

Now he is what I would call a REAL MAN. A hero. Not the bang bang shoot 'em up "I like beer" man. A REAL man...who cares about a kitten glued to the road.
My brother, a 65 year old big burly former motorcycle gang, pickup drivin' man...stops his truck to save turtles and other animals. He stops, picks up turtles in the road, and takes them off to the side, preferably near a ditch. (We have a lot of turtles around here.)

(4,079 posts)When my husband and I first started dating I was dogsitting for my boss. Her big, black wolf of a dog (I never knew the breed) got sick and I had to take him to the vet. My future husband was with me when I brought Byron (the wolf-dog) home, and we left his cone off while we watched him because he was so much more comfortable that way.
Well, it turns out my future hubby is allergic to dogs, and his eyes and nose got runny, and his face got all red and itchy. It was getting late, and I assumed he was anxious to get the hell out of there, but when I started to put Byron's cone back on, the love-of-my-life-to-be offered to stay and sleep on the couch so that Byron didn't have to wear his cone all night.
I think I fell in love at that precise moment, and have stayed that way for 27 years.

(37,648 posts)That touched my heart. I never met any man like that. I'm divorced..he & all my boyfriends were not like that at all. I now refer to them as inferior men.
You're so lucky.

(45,450 posts)Tell me that kitten accidentally walked into some glue and it wasn't some psychotic asshole who did this intentionally
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)He asked the vet if that was possible, but she (and Stew) thought it probably was not possible. That he'd get glue on all his paws, and manage to walk to the middle of the road, and THEN get stuck there. The vet was equally disturbed that someone would do this.
But they got the glue off of him, got him an exam and shots, and let him start living a happy life in his new home with his family.

(4,447 posts)But that's a horrible, sadistic thing to do to any animal. Sounds like someone's auditioning for a job in Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, kudos to the rescuer. I've stopped to take turtles out of the road and I applaud anyone who would help an animal in distress.
