Texan living near Obamas watches security response unfold

A Texan living a couple of doors down from the Obamas said security has drawn even tighter than usual in his Washington, D.C., neighborhood since the Secret Service intercepted a suspicious package early Wednesday morning addressed to their home.

The normally quiet neighborhood was teeming with a stepped-up law-enforcement presence and a massive army of journalists stopped by a barricade, Mario Castillo, lobbyist and San Angelo native, said.

“When I was leaving this morning …, I had to pass through the usual Secret Service checkpoint,” Castillo, said. “But this time, there were many more agents there.”

“I’ve never seen anything like this before in my entire life here. It’s just madness run amuck,” Castillo said. “This is truly frightening.”
