imo would include someone like Nicole Wallace and maybe even Steve Schmidt on their campaign.

(3,344 posts)We have LOTS of authentic progressives and liberals to choose from! None of these Republican jackasses!
MSNBC should get rid of all of these Republican hosts! Do you see former Democrats hosting shows on Fox News?

(4,305 posts)I would rather both sides of the story even if it makes me rage. I would rather have the full story than a half assed story to base my opinions on.

(4,305 posts)We cannot convince republicans that democrats are more deserving of their vote if we do not listen. The republicans do not listen.

(11,744 posts)We can't fix racial anxiety. That is something that Republicans are going to have to work out on their own. Plus, we don't need to convince Republicans at all. We have to convince the apathetic 46% of eligible voters who fail to show up on election day. Hillary got almost 66 million votes and Trump 63. Almost 100 million people did not vote. Those 100 million plus our base is who we should be going after. We don't need Republican strategists for that.

(4,305 posts)Wouldn't it be better if we got 1 or 2 million republicans to be democrats and make that 5 or 6 million more of us? We need the closed minded strategists to help us figure out what our neighbors are thinking so we can make them see the light.
Yes we do need republicans to cross over in those highly gerrymandered districts or we can have 10 million more and it wouldn't make a difference.
I don't think the we don't need no stinking republicans is good either. There are some who are actually seeing the light all by themselves. Do we take them in or do we push them away?
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I think the more informed I am, the better armed I am.

(11,744 posts)We just don't need Republican strategists to tell us anything about that. Sure it would be a good thing to get 1 to 2 million Republicans to switch. We just don't need to spend any inordinate amount of energy or capital, especially paying Republicans to guide us there.
It isn't about listening to pundits who just don't like Donald Trump. Schmidt hates Trump but he was on Bill Maher a few weeks ago still peddling typical conservative garbage.
Hating Trump is not the same as supporting Democrats. We already have enough conservative Democrats in the party. Wallace and Schmidt dislike Trump but they fail to recognize that Trump is the logical extreme end point for their party. Conservatism is not a viable or sustainable ideology, especially since they cannot agree on what they are trying to conserve.
Our best bet is to get a better handle on what our end goal is and have a better way of communicating things that are important like President Obama did in 2008 and 2012.
Why do we have to put up with having republicans on our ticket? Hell we had Liebermann and look what happened. We're Democrats, we want Democrats on our tickets and we vote for Democrats. If the Republicans fuck up their party, tough shit. The only time I'd vote third party would be if Dems run republicans
