It would be malpractice to exclude right wingers (and Sykes is a center right Republican). They have no obligation to slant news our way. I am not afraid to hear the other side.

One thing Sykes never brought up - and which was never covered by MSNBC - was Sykes' own role in throwing gas on the hate that pervades the right wing in this country.

Sykes spent over two decades, polluting the air waves on WTMJ (Motto: Our call letters really should be WGOP), and running various propaganda sites funded by dark money groups like the Bradley Foundation and Wisconsin Club for Growth.

More often than not, Sykes was spewing his race baiting rhetoric, as well as attacking any and all Democrats, women and people of color. It had actually gotten to the point where he was sued and got the radio station sued as well. Sykes almost lost his job, if not for the unions that he loves to bash.

I know the effect of Sykes' hate speech all too well. Sykes has gone after me personally with false attacks and innuendo. It got to the point where I also received death threats, including my favorites: "Somebody needs to cap you, capper." and "I have a hollow point with your name written on it, Chris." (Yes, I filed a police report on that last one.)

Ol' Chuckles needs to really look at himself closer and start practicing honesty for a change. Even at his current age, it's not too late for him to try new things.

Likewise, it sure would be nice to have MSNBC and these other networks be honest with their viewers. If they are going to have hate-mongerers like Sykes on, they need to inform their viewers where these people are coming from. If not, they're not really much better than Fox News.

bring about the current political climate. It seemed a product of sincere self-reflection. I think that's why he's no longer doing rw talk radio and is now an editor at The Weekly Standard.

for the ultimate conclusion that led the country to the Trumpster. They sowed the fields and they and the rest of us are reaping the whirlwind.

However, to defeat the Trumpster and his odious acolytes, we need all hands on deck. Even the guilty parties who now at long last can see the apocalypse they created. They may not admit personal responsibility but they see the the carnage and are willing to speak out, point the fingers, write the appropriate condemnations.

With our democratic Republic at stake, we need to embrace those who have seen the light. Unlike a creature like Hugh Hewlitt who will defend the indefensible, spout whataboutism and false equivalencies ad infinitum. Charlie Sykes is one of many names that have done a 180. Rick Wilson, Jennifer Rubin, David Frum, Max Boot et al (even frigging George Will) have had similar conversions to a Never-Trump philosophy.

Why are they given a platform? To encourage other Republicans who can still think independently to push back against white nationalism, nativism, raw racism that is Trumpism. We don't need to agree with their conservative positions to welcome them in that pushback. Because if we lose this fight, our political affiliations and sentiments won't be worth a damn.

Including about Hugh Hewitt, who thinly shrouds insidious attacks in veils of more respectable rhetoric for those too dishonest or un- self aware to seek out the message without protective hypocrisy.
