The president is frustrated as his efforts to drum up fear of the caravan get pushed off the front page.

Donald Trump is living a personal nightmare. Just days before a critical election, he finds himself unable to influence what the political press is covering.
The president has spent the last week attempting to gin up media coverage of a caravan of migrants making their way from Honduras to the Mexico-U.S. border. Hes heralded his signing of a major bill to combat the opioid epidemic. Hes touted additionalthough currently nonexistentlegislation to further slash middle-class taxes. But a series of real-world eventsprimarily the dispatch of explosive devices to numerous top Democratic officials by what appears to be an obsessive Trump fan have overwhelmed that storyline. And its left Trump notably churlish.
You could see the frustration, said Eric Bolling, a conservative TV host and close Trump friend who attended a White House summit on opioid abuse on Wednesday, as the bomb scare story broke. With much fanfare, the president signed his first major piece of legislation addressing the opioid crisis, which lifted restrictions on Medicare and Medicaid coverage for addicts, among other measures. But by days end, that was hardly a blip on the media radar. The bomb scare story was dominating headlines and cable news coverage.
On Friday morning, hours before the bomb suspect was apprehended, Trump suggested that the bomb scares had been designed to distract the news media away from the Republican Partys preferred agenda.

The momentum was clearly on the Republican side, Bolling said. I dont know that this is going to change anything, but certainly as much as President Trump is campaigning...for the news story to derail, I dont know that that is frustrating him but I would suspect that that is something behind it.

(14,492 posts)being willing to look at the consequences of your own actions?
Just observing his actions on the international front, one would conclude he has none of that capability at all......

(32,006 posts)No, Dumpy, it's not "bomb stuff". It's a terrorist attack. And we have all noticed you offer not one word of comfort to the nation, nor any condolence or sympathy for the victims, who by all measures, is one of your crazed followers.
It's all about you, isn't it, Dumpy. Voters are seeing through your narcissism act. Tick tock, Dumpy.

(88 posts)Has anyone seen that Fox is the only site that doesnt have the MAGAbomber as their top story? Theirs is some story on avenatti (who lets be real, no one cares about anymore). Their only story on the bombing comes about 4 articles down where they report on Twitter doing nothing over a harassing message he sent.
He still has control over at least one news outlet.

(5,810 posts)is going to a pretty limited audience.....The true believers, which we know is the base of his base. Other tRump supporters are not necessarily part of that core. They like the things tRump has done so far, but may not like the man. So when a mad bomber is sending out bombs via the US postal service (even to Democratic targets), it kind of knocks other stories off the front page. Especially after the number of known bombs grew to 12+ and no way to know for sure that their were not more out there in the system. Nothing focuses the mind quite like the threat of bombs in the mailbox or at your post office. Who remembers what the Murrah building looked like after McVeay got through with it??
But tRump, the Ring Master, thinks he has unlimited power to make his minions jump at his command without realizing that not all of them are under his total control. His narcissism knows no bounds so he truly thinks he is in complete charge. His awakening will be rude and unpleasant. I suspect he will rant, rave and seethe as he continues to be frustrated in his attempts to control the news cycle. With any luck, he will melt down into a pool of goo like the Wicked Witch in Wizard of Oz, crying, Im melting.... And the people cheered and clapped.

(129,096 posts)When they DO talk about the "migrant caravan making their way to the U.S. border", they REFUSE to ALSO SAY that these people are over 1000 miles AWAY from the border!
So in their attempt to appear to be "fair" and "ridicule" the WH narrative in the analysis, they refuse to even fact check and put the CORRECT INFO out there in their mention of this narrative, so the "facts" continue to be lost to the uniformed or casual reader.

(988 posts)If trump rally's with his fear stoking and media covers it, it will look bad for Trump. It will look like the continuing of the divisiveness.
If I was the media, I would NOT have any more discussion about the Caravan for the next 10 days.

(43,182 posts)and Trump is complaining the media is against him ... he is really f**ked up. Anything he can't control and manipulate is crooked, anything that doesn't give him the best outcome is rigged, biased, fake.
