Keith Ellison (D) is running for MN AG. He's pro-choice, pro-gay rights, pro-environment, pro-labor union, and pro-marijuana legalization.
He's trailing by 7 points in the latest poll.
This is probably because of an accusation by ex-girlfriend Karen Monahan. She accuses him of getting physical with her exactly once. She says that the morning after they broke up, he wanted her to move out of his house, and he tried unsuccessfully to pull her out of bed by her feet. He denies doing that, and an investigation found her accusation "unsubstantiated."
I'm still voting for him, and I made a list of groups and individuals who have re-affirmed their support. Please share my list with anyone you know in Minnesota. We need to stop Doug Wardlow (R), a Trump supporter who is anti-gay marriage, anti-abortion rights, anti-immigrant, anti-worker, and anti-environment.

I'm voting for him. After almost 50 years of DFL AGs moving us forward Wardlow would be a giant leap backward.

(28,079 posts)but I do have relatives outstate who are all Wellstone type DFLers (except for one cousin most of us, even his siblings, avoid as much as possible).
On the other hand, a friend's relatives who are also outstate fit the definition of "deplorable".

(34,661 posts)Yes,there are tons of old time DFLers out State, but, they are surrounded by the left overs from the days of Al Quist and his hate filled followers. And in saying that, you would have a idea of the part of the State I reference. Hi-way 14 has some real interesting folks residing along it. Some of whom were my Business contact persons. And yes have dealt with the deplorable's.

She says the idiots were voting Republican even when FDR was saving their farms. Fortunately, she raised her kids right. One of her granddaughters is married to a farmer out that way and she's as liberal as I am. Maybe there is some hope for the future.

(34,661 posts)I mentioned 14,19 and 212 are some real case studies in Tribalism's. Usually spend our Summers between 212 and 19 . Our Niece and her Father are like the only islands in a sea of Red. And you go thirty miles west and it is DFL due to a State College. Hit the west City limits,it turns bright Red real quick.
As you might be aware of,this is one of the areas where the Farm Crisis of the late Seventies and eighties his with a vengeance. Spent many a Saturday screwing with the Bankers at Farm Auctions. Some people love to bite the hand that helps them.

(35,619 posts)If the owner of a bar got angry at a customer, and tried to pull him out of his bar so he'd leave, but he couldn't and the customer stayed in his seat, I wouldn't call that "violence."
If Keith Ellison got angry at Karen Monahan, and tried to pull her out of bed by her feet so she'd move out of his house, but she stayed in bed, I wouldn't call that "violence."
Furthermore, Karen Monahan has told three contradictory versions of that story, and so even if one of them is true, I don't know which one to believe.
If you're concerned that this case is similar to Brett Kavanaugh's then please read this op-ed about the differences:
