Donald Trump Has 'Stoked A Cold Civil War,' Former McCain Adviser Says

(Newsweek) In the wake of explosive devices being sent to prominent Democratic politicians, a former adviser to Arizona Senator John McCain said President Donald Trump has “stoked a cold civil war” in the United States. Steve Schmidt took to Twitter on Wednesday to rail against Trump and his rhetoric, calling him “the greatest demagogue in American history.”

“Trump has stoked a cold civil war in this Country,” Schmidt wrote. “His rallies brim with menace and he has labeled journalists as enemies of the people. That someone would seek to kill their political enemies is not aberrational but rather inevitable consequence of Trump’s incitement.”

Schmidt’s tweets were an apparent response to the multiple explosive devices sent to prominent Democratic politicians and others on Wednesday. Former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and others were targeted.

“The targets are political not coincidental,” he continued. “Trump, the greatest demagogue in American history has celebrated violence over and over again. It looks like someone finally took Trump both literally and seriously. The WH will feign outrage when this obvious point is made.” .............(more)

The shooter today is thought to want to kill Jews because "they help the convoy of Mexicans coming to invade the US and kill our families".

Never mind the crazy thought process here... this one can be laid right at Trump's feet. His fear mongering over a "caravan" of mostly women and children WALKING to the US border from central America has motivated his base to a fear level that says "it's OK to bomb George Soros... he is paying those caravan people to invade the US" and "it's OK to shoot Jews at their temple because "Jews assist those in the Caravan to invade the US and kill Americans"

These events are directly related to the fear that Trump and the right wing media stirred up over this "caravan"... all in an attempt to motivate their base to vote (this caravan process happens often, only THIS one is causing the right wing media to get all aflutter over it).

Conservatives have been stoking that fire for 50 years, and added a blower to get the fire nice and hot for the last 25. They pre-stoked it, but frustrated their voters by never really following through.

All Trump had to do to take it over was tell them what they wanted to hear.
