(1,483 posts)Something like 3 percent of black voters voted for Trump.
Black people are not the problem here.
Why are only 3 percent of black people bugshit crazy, but a whole 57 percent of white people are bugshit?

(10,418 posts)I'm white and I'm not sure I know the answer. Traditionally in our society, whites have been in a much more powerful position. You can probably trace it all back to a deep seated racism that has been in place since this country's inception.
Either that or the crazy gene is much more pronounced in us. My natural state of mind is crazy, but, you know, I've never let it make me hate people.
But I think it has to do with power.

(129,096 posts)There is/was an older generation of black Republicans who were involved with the Nixon administration (people might recall Senator Edward Brooke from MA during that period) - many of them were involved with business, and in particular, creating black-owned businesses (including people like Robert L. Johnson, founder of now-sold BET), and a few got involved with Raygun, but this latest group are truly grifters.

(7,820 posts)As women voting Republican or Log Cabin Republicans (Im a Bi woman just for context) I do think often its financial. If youre talking Politicians it can sometimes be opportunistic- figuring theres a larger chance to advance and/or make a name for yourself.
