learn about how things are supposed to be. They know that only a tiny percentage of the population has any real knowledge of the Constitution or the structure of our government. They understand that the vast majority of people know almost nothing about federal law or the laws of their own states. They count on you being ignorant of those things.

Stop being ignorant. Spend some time learning about how government actually works and how it is organized. Discover what the limitations are on the presidency and what Congress is supposed to do. Find out how the federal court system is organized and what it does. Do the same for your own state.

Don't let the Right-Wing of the Republican Party do things that are illegal and unconstitutional. Get knowledge. Learn. Read. Discover.

Then, learn how political parties work in our system. I recommend learning about the Democratic Party first. Read its platform. Find out how candidates are selected. Discover how the election system works in your state. Get information on how you can become part of the Democratic Party's leadership. Educate yourself.

Use the Internet to get a political education, not just as a place to post your opinion about things and read the opinions of others. There is a vast amount of misinformation written by people who are ignorant of the facts posted almost everywhere, including on DU. But, there are places where you can find out how things work. Go to those places and become your own expert.

Then, you'll be able to identify nonsense when you see it. You'll be able to correct misinformation. You'll be able to reject illogical and uninformed things you read. Get smart. Get educated. Get the correct information about basic things. Everything will become much clearer to you. You'll waste less time hoping for things that cannot happen.
