Someone has probably advised Trump that he needs to act more "presidential"...

...but, try as he might, he just can't pull it off. He is who he is.

Basically, an asshole. Not a very likable person. Always sad. No joy. Revengeful and hateful. No empathy. Only thinks about himself.

Everybody knows how he is - even those that support him.

But, they must think that America cannot do any better? Or he is like them?

The racists, the bigots, the climate change deniers, the illiterate, the ill-informed, the downright stupid - they see Trump as being "just like them".
