Trump and first lady host Halloween at White House

President Trump and first lady Melania Trump on Sunday night hosted Halloween at the White House, kicking off the spooky weekend by handing out candy to costumed children just as they did last year. The Trumps stood on the South Lawn between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. as children streamed by, picking up candy from the couple's baskets.

The two stood at the center of an elaborate Halloween display involving pumpkins, an orange carpet, and a white sign that read "Halloween." The U.S. Air Force Band played holiday-themed music, including the Harry Potter theme song, played as children dressed as pumpkins, ballerinas, Mario and more passed through.

The children and parents their parents were allowed entry with tickets from the Department of Education and the White House Military Office, USA Today reported.

Activities for the children were set up on the South Lawn, including a moon carpet from NASA, a tractor from the Department of Agriculture, and emergency vehicles from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

I understand the need for emergency vehicles -- to get the kids ready for school shootings and armed guards. I just wonder if "Only I can fix it" had any scary, brown immigrants jumping out of caravans at the children. You know, like Ronald McDonald, you get the kids on board and the parents will follow.
