Is It Time For A Boycott Of All Fox News Advertisers? Yes, We Think It Is.
Fox News is not news. It is propaganda. They peddle conspiracy theories, hate speech and ignorance. It is time to hit them where it hurts - advertisers.

(33,207 posts)This list is revealing of some interesting corporate advertising strategies.
There's a couple of companies on there who are IMHO trying to be politically neutral by spending widely across the channels and/or networks. Their ads appear all over the spectrum and I don't think the average Fox News viewer is among their typical clientele.
The break down of the rest seems to be; Big Pharma, Big Money, Big Insurance, and Big Bullshit.
What is missing from this list is the ads I've seen on Fox News (I suffer regular involuntary exposure for short periods during the average day) which to my knowledge appear only on Fox News.
For example, Koch Industries (We're so great, work for us, you will be assimilated) ads, other Murdoch owned company ads, and yes, believe-it-or-not Citizen's United sponsored hit pieces on various Democratic and Liberal initiatives and potential candidates. These ads are mixed in with the other annoying, but, relatively mundane ads in such a way as to make these IMHO radical ads seem mainstream and normalized.

(86,798 posts)It's hard to get enough of the distracted populous to commit to something that requires such determination. Perhaps we're ready. I use a couple things on the list and I won't buy them if I can do that. I live in a place where selections of some items are few, like household stuff. The other large group of commodities are the koch industries. By the time we boycott both of those, we'll be revamping our entire consumer behavior profile, if we actually succeed in such deliberate change. That's what we need anyway, hope we can get it to happen.

Took the humorous approach, basically said most companies on the list suck, tRump sucks, Fox News sucks, it isn't that hard not to suck.

(4,033 posts)gain more tRumpians than the Libs they would lose. At least in the short term. Remember that big Corps never look further ahead then the end of the quarter.
And should we also boycott CNN and MSNBC for running GOP Political ads? Yeah, I know that most of the GOP ads I see are local, but still, it really gripes me to have to watch GOP lying crap in the Middle of one of MTP or The 11th Hour or Rachael.

In March, David Hogg, a student who survived the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, called for a boycott of companies that advertise on Laura Ingraham's Fox News show in response to a tweet that mocked Hogg by saying he "whines" about college rejections.
"Soooo @IngrahamAngle what are your biggest advertisers ... Asking for a friend," Hogg responded, adding the hashtag #BoycottIngramAdverts.
He later tweeted a list of companies he said were advertisers on Ingraham's show and urged his followers to contact them. It appears to have worked, as several brands dropped the show in the following few days, and Ingraham later apologized to Hogg on Twitter.

Very difficult to avoid products supplied by Repug-supporting corporations. After all, the Republican Party is and always has been the party of big business and banking.....
However, I do feel if a substantial number of Americans boycott carefully targeted products, it would get the attention of Wall Street and thereby perhaps trickle down to this greed-driven administration.
Could we just get Ben & Jerrys to buy out News Corp?.....
