15,000 troops divided by the 1954 miles...

...of the US-Mexico border, divided again into 3 8 hours shifts would be one soldier every 2.5 miles

I realize this is very simplistic, and not how it would be done, but it struck me as an intriguing perspective.

I agree the idea of 15000 troops needed to defend the border from a few thousand immigrants is ludicrous

I don’t think the troops are being used like that. It’s not like they are setting up Infantry defensive positions along the border.

When the Army sends people down it’s 99% support units. They back up Homeland Security or Border Patrol.
