Obama Destroys Trump After A MAGA Heckler Interrupts Him In Florida
A heckler interrupted Obama who was campaigning for Democrats in Florida, so the former president responded by destroying the mentality and anger incited by Trump.

Obama dives into the angry right mentality
Former President Obama was correct. Republicans are still angry even though they have won anything, because Trump has one note, and its anger. All Trump knows is spreading anger and hate. It is why he has no interest in uniting the country. It is why in times of tragedy he fails so miserably.
Republicans won everything in 2016, so why are they still so mad? Democrats were so happy after Obama won the presidency in 2008 that they got complacent and didnt show up to vote in 2010. Democrats were so happy with Obama that they rationalized their lack of concern about the fate of Congress as no matter what, at least they had Obama to protect them.
Trumps Republicans are angry because they are failing. They can feel their brief taste of power slipping away. The old white man who was supposed to turn back the clock and undo progress has flopped.
The MAGA heckler opened the door, and Barack Obama walked right through it to provide some key insight into why hope always beats fear, and voters are going drive that point home to Trump on Tuesday.

I've often asked, "What is it that conservatives want to conserve?" That question has been answered, if silently. They want to conserve wealth for the wealthy; power for the powerful; comfort for the comfortable; poverty for the poor; and affliction for the afflicted.

(51,627 posts)everything...today it was glaringly obvious that when it comes to temperament Obama, is smooth and can't be rattled. He was making jokes at the W House Correspondents Dinner (the one the moron was offended at over birtherism) at the same time he already had just given the A-OK to go after Bin Laden. He is Mr Cool.

(17,988 posts)Trump knows good and well no one has any respect for him. Oh,they laugh and shout at his cruel insults because that is their brand of humor. They are as insecure as Trump is.
They need someone to hate because they need that to feel superior. But inside they are not.

(7,725 posts)THE WHOLE WORLD SAW THAT. Theres basic decorum when a true president is speaking. He's black, and exceptionally kind. That's why they yell. They know he won't have them beaten into the ground. They take advantage of kindness. NO MORE MR NICEGUY. The only folks who suffer when we are too nice...is us...and our beloved country. Just laugh indeed. Groan.

(3,205 posts)...because that's all the republicans have to sell: anger, hatred and fear. What are they going to campaign on? "We're going to give tax breaks to the rich, and pay for it with your Social Security", that's not going to sell, even to their crowd. They're getting their ass kicked over health care, so they're lying through their teeth to hang onto power; They've lost the culture wars, you can delay things, but you can't turn back the clock.
They got nothing to sell the average joe but hate, anger and fear. And hopefully next week will prove that there's a limit on the success of that.

(23,337 posts)I get lost in the moment when I listen to him speak. Sigh.
It's so nice to listen to someone who actually has a vocabulary of more than a hundred words. And many of them are even multisyllabic . I miss having a president who has eloquence and dignity.
Cheetoh doesn't even know how to form a complete sentence. I don't understand people who intentionally listen to him speak. In our house there's a rule: the instant his voice comes on the tv or radio, first one to the mute button wins.

(1,020 posts)Some old white men men have driven my soul to the worst pits of self-loathing and depression possible. The tormentors were religion-driven. These are, IMHO, the ones that want to undo progress.
We must move forward. Always forward.
Regime change is never easy, and many times results in violence. I am a person of peace and logic and would like to see this "phase" america is going through complete peacefully - whatever the result - but I am afraid the GOP has other plans. Hence the feason the GOP refuses to give up their bump stocks, machine gun collections, et al. They actually think they can overturn the government. I am concerned blood will be spilled.
Vote. Please.

(3,433 posts)The people with real problems could not be helped. People like the coal miners who demand their mines reopen. The kindest thing that could have been done for them was what Clinton did when she was honest, it's not coming back. The closed down factories that have been moved offshore are not coming back anytime soon. The small towns where 50% of the population (or more) were employed by a single factory or mill are dying and are unlikely to survive. The Republicans tapped into this frustration and anger by telling these men and women that if they voted republican they would get everything back. It was a lie, a wooden nickel. There was never an intention to follow through because what they wanted was impossible; better to exploit the desperation and secure votes. Stage 2 was laying blame to the media, the Democrats and immigration as a way to stoke anger and attempt to secure this election and all future elections.
I totally understand what Obama is saying and I am not criticizing him. For many the anger is a result of manipulation. The rest are racist bigots who will never be satisfied even if the Republicans managed to win every single seat in the legislature and on the courts. Even if they managed to carve out a bunch of states where only white heterosexual evangelicals were 100% of the population, they would still be angry. It's all they know.
We will never reach the latter. They need to die off. Sadly, I don't know if we will ever reach the former as they too may die off. I sincerely hope that isn't the case because I do believe there are decent men and women who have double downed on Republican support out of despair. I know some, they are my in laws from Maine. Often it's easier to believe lies than accept they have been duped. I am heartened by many of the stories I have read on here of family and friends who were steadfast Republicans but have decided to back Democratic candidates in this election and hopefully future.

(14,176 posts)The whole mood of the country was so fantastic, so positive, after Nov. 2008. Sure some of that dampened, mostly caused by the GOPs relentless stonewalling of Obama's bills. And growing frustration with just how much Obama was being taken advantage of by duplicitous Republicans.
Of course there was anger, intense anger, but it was always this crazy minority that we had grown to live with. The latest at the time being the tea party. Now we have the Trump party.
But overall, the nation was 'happy'. Comedians were joking about other things in life. Celebreties, and musicians were seen contributing to great causes..other than politics. Life is always hard, some harder than others, but there was not this black cloud of dread.
Nothing illustrates the divide in energy more than comparing the two conventions before the '16 election. One looked dark, ominous, and was filled with speaker after speaker leading chants of "lock her up!" and spewing hate, fake accusations, ridicule, and of course fear fear fear. Conversely, the DNC was so uplifting. Even though, unfortunately, this strategy may not work today, who can forget Michelle's "When they go low, we go high". It was a celebration of positive liberal minded energy in one room. It wasn't about tearing down the GOP as much as it was about hope for the future.
They are perpetually angry. They are brainwashed into being on edge and pissed off all the time. Frankly it must be draining. Its almost as if they were/are envious of that demeanor, that Democrat voters just want to live in peace. So now they have succeeded in making all of us on the other side also perpetually pissed off. "Good for you!" (said in the sarcastic voice of Christian Bale in that viral set recording) Remember when we didn't even hear from the President in the news for ....gasp.....days at a time. Life was 'normal'.
I just want normal again.
