"His face flush with self-satisfaction, concentrated smugness, tinged with a pugilist's cruelty"

A fleeting moment within the teaser for Axios’s interview with Donald Trump, the centerpiece of Sunday’s “Axios on HBO,” tells all you need to know about how the president truly feels about his relationship to the media.

Moments after Jim VandeHei admits to Trump that his “enemy of the people” rhetoric scares the hell out of him, the reporter (and co-founder of the media site) tells the president, “You are, like, the most powerful man in the world.”

Reflexively Trump looks off-camera and grins, briefly, his face flush with what appears to be self-satisfaction. There was concentrated smugness in that expression, tinged with a pugilist’s cruelty.

n that scene, VandeHei points out the extreme irresponsibility of any leader of the free world using his position and platform to vilify an entire class of people, and using that rhetoric to stoke the emotions of the people who constitute his base.

Ever the attention-hungry reality show star, Trump softly replies, “They like me more because of it,” calling his dangerous hyperbolic term the only way he can fight back. That satisfied grin says he knows he’s winning.

It was hatred that drove each nail into the hands and feet of this man whose only sin was preaching that love of each other is the ultimate source of happiness and peace. Hatred runs hot and red in contrast to peace that serene. Hatred is the stock trade of the demagogues whose message is division and intolerance. It was the message of Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini. A message that lead their adoring flocks down the road to oblivion. He who does this for the least of my brethren does it for me. My blood runs cold when I see the blind allegiance that blinds Trumps followers to a man who is the epitome of what should be shunned by any person with an ounce of compassion and sense of justice.

A week or two ago, there were stories popping up about Millennials not voting.

Then, a few days ago, the media spun a 180 and now we're hearing about them early voting in record numbers.

What is also being said, and what we can't avoid, is that this IS a "referendum" on Trump. He's been saying "You're voting for ME" at his "MAGA rallies."

So I hope voters have learned a lesson over the last two years and don't make the same mistake twice. We know the MAGAts will be out in full force. They are still a minority when it comes to the total number of eligible voters. I want to see that smirk voted off his mug. He's been trying to downplay a loss of the House..."Senate's looking good"...but make no mistake. He won't enjoy a moment of what's coming, AS LONG AS PEOPLE VOTE.

People are pissed off - they are angry and motivated. The millennials are scared for their future.

That said, there is no blue whatever if there are not enough votes.

or at least DeNiro's portrayal.

Perhaps it's because I'd love to him him banging his head against the walls in the White House to psych himself up on Nov. 7 (please).

His "stream of consciousness" speeches at the "MAGA rallies" are becoming less coherent as we get closer to the 6th.

Get the fuck off your knees and straighten your back with steel. This is not the most powerful person on the planet. Quit believing the bullshit. This is an asshole, a traitor and a piece of shit of an individual. His power derives only from your belief. Don't be a slave! Be masterless. Fucking sheep piss me right the fuck off.

I don;t watch TV so I have no idea who this 'reporter' guy even is,. But, Jesus, what a suck up.. It just looks to me like he's just acting--- probably sincere, yes.. but still acting for the cameras.

Just kick the fucker in the balls and be done with it. That would make for much better Tee Vee...

You could just see him puff up when the reporter tried to appeal to his higher nature (as if he had one!) The more people that cater and are subservient to him, the more powerful he feels. So, for God's sake, STOP IT!!! And get back to the true job of the press: holding his (and his corrupt republican accomplices) feet to the fire! And speaking truth to power!
