U.S. militia groups head to border, stirred by Trump’s call to arms

Michael Vickers, a veterinarian and rancher in Falfurrias, Texas, says he won’t let outside militia onto his property and he doesn’t think such groups will be trusted by most area landowners. (Dominic Bracco II/Prime/FTWP)

FALFURRIAS, Tex. — Gun-carrying civilian groups and border vigilantes have heard a call to arms in President Trump’s warnings about threats to American security posed by caravans of Central American migrants moving through Mexico. They’re packing coolers and tents, oiling rifles and tuning up aerial drones, with plans to form caravans of their own and trail American troops to the border.

“We’ll observe and report, and offer aid in any way we can,” said Shannon McGauley, a bail bondsman in the Dallas suburbs who is president of the Texas Minutemen. McGauley said he was preparing to head for the Rio Grande in coming days.

“We’ve proved ourselves before, and we’ll prove ourselves again,” he said.

McGauley and others have been roused by the president’s call to restore order and defend the country against what Trump has called “an invasion,” as thousands of Central American migrants advance slowly through southern Mexico toward the U.S. border. Trump has insisted that “unknown Middle Easterners,” “very tough fighters,” and large numbers of violent criminals are traveling among the women, children and families heading north on foot.

No because they are worthless losers

Give 'em a week, tops. Once these out of shape fat fucks realize there are no drive thrus, their ice melts and backs ache from sleeping on the ground, and their comrades at arms smell and get on their bored nerves, they will shirk back home

Cattle country as far as the eye can see, and pretty close to the King Ranch.

I've driven by there many times.

The Falfurrias chamber of commerce informed us that the butter that made the town a household word across Texas is no longer produced locally. The name was bought by a large dairy company and butter is still marketed under the famous name - but it doesn't come from South Texas. Falfurrias' famous butter is still remembered in a vintage sign that remains mounted on a downtown wall.

The Dairy Farmers of America, which has a huge plant in Winnsboro, now owns the family-owned butter company.

Not because they are in the way and no help, which is true, but because they steal equipment from the border patrol.

Yet there are rumors started by “someone” that the migrant caravan could try to steal border patrol agents’ equipment. Most curious.

we can convince each group that the other groups are actually "illegals" and then maybe they wipe each other out?

A bunch of self-righteous, chest-thumping, self-important, trigger-happy, gun-humping vigilantes.

Anybody remember the Malheur Nature Wildlife Preserve in Oregon ?

Lots of jumpy guys in camo, running around in the brush at night with assault rifles, trailing the US military.

What could possibly go wrong?

It would be incredibly ironic and sad if Trump's calling out of the military to "protect" us from foreigners ended up in the deaths of US civilians.
