(937 posts)I did 70 yesterday with my good friend, around 400 in all. My favorite was this big, grizzled guy who whipped open the door and had a tee shirt on with Putin leading the idiot on a leash. Ive been a republican for 40 years. Ive never seen #%+* like this. Im now a Democrat. Had a Sinema sign in his yard. Also talked to many doorbells. That was a new thing.
Thank you to everyone for everything you did. Thinking positive thoughts.

(8,445 posts)I held up my flyer so they'd know I wasn't selling a product.
I got a lot of "Not Home" places, probably because most of my door-knocking was in an area where there is sometimes negative activity.

(4,924 posts)I've been a local Democratic committee woman since 2004, when a friend talked me out of going full fetal for 4 years when W was reelected. Changed my life.
In 2004 I traveled to Pennsylvania, the nearest swing state, to knock on doors. In 2008 and 12, I called into Ohio and Indiana for President Obama.
I'll be out again today and until the polls close tomorrow.
I'll sleep on Wednesday.

(53,061 posts)I did a little more than I expected but they kept lying about the Caravan.
Last Saturday I was just going to do 2 hours but they were shooting elderly Jews in the Synagogue.
This Saturday I couldn't go back early because they want to rip the 14th amendment apart and that is one of my favorite amendments, so stayed until late.
The operative in her mid 20s was surprised by the volume and I told her "we have to go old school". When she asked what that was I told her during the elections during Vietnam war we had to work as if the end of the war depended on it and this time we have to assume we are preventing a war against Iran.

Knocked on doors and more. Check out my "mad as hell and not going to take it anymore" stand against "exact match signature" voter suppression this past Friday. Personally, I think I went above and beyond for the GOTV team:

(100 posts)A street over, one of the houses has a variety of signs in the yard and on the door: Private Property, Keep Out, No Trespassing, No Solicitors, Violators Will Be Prosecuted, etc. (Normal, middle class neighborhood)
I was a precinct captain (same city/dif. precinct) in 2004 and the things that were said to me on the phone by registered Democrats were bad enough. FYI: A lot of Democrats around here always vote for Republicans but will never change their affiliation (still holding a grudge against Lincoln).

(6,496 posts)It was difficult because it was a rural area and very rainy. I had to drive for like 30 minutes just to get into my canvassing area. I had a bunch of addresses that were inaccessible, but I did get to talk to a few people at least.

(4,117 posts)And have been canvassing in my red, fundamentalist county.
I know it makes a difference, especially when I ask, "Can I tell you why I support Xochitl, Michelle Lujan Grisham?" I go into my talk and they then tell me that it made a difference.
Nothing makes as much of a difference as person to person.
I rarely can go more than 3 or 4 hours, so I admire those who can do it all day. Way to go!
